Perhaps my favorite part of my visit at Sagebrush was the dinner we had the Hideout. The fish pond, bald eagles snatching a trout out of it, great company, and fresh wings and steak prepared on the grill right next to the table was just awesome. That was the best meal I ever had on a golf course.

What is your favorite meal experience at a golf course? I know we have had a thread about particular food at golf courses, but I am looking for more of the "experience" part.

P.S. The 2nd favorite was at the turn house on Old Mac. Sipping the hot chocolate with cold marine winds howling at you while you sit on the chair looking out to the Pacific Ocean was truly sublime. I could have just sat there for hours.

Garlic Prawns on the Deck at Barnbougle closely followed by Hamburger on Ben's Porch at SH, with honorable mention to drinking out of a Sand Hills Copper Mug out on the back deck at the SH clubhouse with a plate of Nachos.

But for pure theatre and experience cant go past our first night at SH.  After the bar closed we retreated to our rooms with large polystyrene cups full of our drink of choice.  For one of our group that happened to be about 10 straight shots of Chivas Regal.  Dismal river running underneath our balconies, and huge thunderstorm lighting up the valley every 2 or 3 seconds as heavy rain doused the Sand Hills was pretty spectacular.

Great photo Richard and I definitely agree that Sagebrush takes the prize on this one.  Lots of great conversation that night in addition to the great eats, although the bugs were pretty bad later that night if I recall correctly!

not on at golf course, but NEAR a golf course.....

my best buddy and i were in St. Andrews for the very first time about 15 years ago and we had secured a time the next morning around 9AM (luckily) on TOC.  we were staying at some bed and breakfast and had been out having fun the night before (first time i had heard of this tom jones fella???).  the next morning we were snoozing at 7:30am as you do when you had 5 too many gin and tonics and in barged this 18 year old scottish girl to serve us breakfast.  at first we (slightly fuzzy from the night before way) were like, WTF and who are you, and then all of sudden we looked at her, looked at each other, looked at her, looked at each other and decided all is well in the world.  she was, well, pretty attractive and we were like, why are you here again, and she said to serve your breakfast, get up and eat......ahhhh...to be there again!
