I just watched the video.   Now that's funny!   :-*

A parody of personal attacks that spends over six minutes making personal attacks.

It wouldn't be a parody of personal attacks if it didn't include personal attacks.

Charlie,

But by engaging in the exact same behavior it's supposedly trying to criticize, it loses all validity.

At least it could be funny...there's certainly more than enough to laugh at here, including msyelf... but it's realy extremely lame and it carries an embittered anger ad ten-ton chip on its shoulder that is really the only self-evident truth one takes from it.

I'd expect better, or at least moderately funny, frankly.

Or to put it in architectural citicism terms, the concept is funny, the execution is Rees Jones or Art Hlls or even Ted Robinson on their worst day.   It's a Doak Scale "0" by definition, as it had to take an expensive amount of time, yet yielded very little from a great site, full of potential.

Certainly not worth playing again.  ;)

Patrick,

Aren't parodies supposed to actually be funny?

With such a rich vein to mibe from, the creator's execution comes off surprisingly flaccid.

I do like the concept...

Er..."Mine " from, I meant to type.

Perhaps the creators need to come back to GCA to re-sharpen their wits?

Pat...you have a great sense of humor...did you actually laugh more than perhaps a polite chuckle?

Actually, while watching it I kept picturing Beavis and Butthead's profiles watching along, chuckling nervously, "hehe heh. Heh...he said "scratching his nuts".....heh heh."

Actually, its really not a parody at all because the best parodies skewer both side equally and indiscriminately.

This instead clearly chose sides so it ended up being a missed opportunity and simply a sour grapes propaganda piece.

Pat,

My Uncle is dead. Feel free to take shots at me all day long, but I will not stand for people taking shots at my Uncle that I referred to something like 3-4 times over 10 years on GCA.com.

Sorry that does not work for me.

I was also not crazy about the same people taking shots at Bob Huntley on their "private" website which gets forwarded to me all the time unsolicited. Bob and Pat Mucci are easily in the Top 5 of hosting people here at GCA.com. I am probably in that elite company and I have never asked for anything other than support for my son's charity. No rater cards, no side deals, I post here for the fun of it.

There are parodies and then there is destructive behavior. David, Tom, Tom and Mike (only when he gets worked up) have the guts to post their names to attacks. They have all crossed the line, but we know who and when they crossed the line.

I have a long fuse, but when it gets lit.......

Pat -

What are you talking about? A parody has to be a parody of something. What was the hateful video that you posted a parody of? Please don't say The Larry King Show.

Michael Moore,

I was sent the video by someone who felt that the discord between various parties on GCA.com was not what was intended.
They asked me to post it, which I did.

I didn't see it as offensively as you and others did.
However, once I saw the reaction from some, I removed it.

I've tried, dozens of times, to reduce and eliminate the discord between the parties engaged in the Merion threads.

Perhaps the over the top video, a parody, will get them to see their behavior in the same light as you see the video parody.

I like ALL of those mentioned in the video.

Had I been mentioned, I would not have hesitated in posting it.

David, Tom, Mike and others have gone too far in personal attacks on others, and over what ? ....... A golf course ?.......

Gee whiz, this is getting absurd.  You know, ridiculously unreasonable and/or having no rational or orderly relationship to human life.

Didn't this all start with the historical study of a golf course?  Cool.  People like to research history.  Enjoy that hobby.  It seems like a great pasttime.  Have fun with your passion for golf and its history.  Have FUN with it.

Mac,

I prefer to focus on the positive in life and will continue to do so. I reached out to Bob Huntley today and I will not post the entire message but I will post the end of his email:

"I feel renewed with energy, both physical and psychological.

On Saturday last I even hit a golf ball...in the air no less."

Ironic that the majority of the people defending this video are members of Max's Lounge.

Perhaps if they find that video so funny they can keep it and themselves on their second tier discussion board.

Pat:

I spoke to Tommy last night and he asked, "Why does Pat Craig keep sending me friend requests on Facebook? And why has he tried to log-in to Max's multiple times if he thinks so little of me or the site?  I wish somebody would ask him that!!"

I am not sure if it is worth another flaming thread so I ask here, but what portion of you guys get into some heated off line discussions with participants or former participants here?

I admit I have gotten calls from the Philly crowd, and had some tiresome (for both sides I am sure) IM exchanges with some of my protaginists like Tommy N, TMac, etc.  Not so much with David M.  There are probably some others I have forgotten.

But, its not a lot.  However, in those conversations, most admit or mention some other oft long raging series of private communications regarding hotly debated topics here.  I mean, I waste too much time typing here, and can't even imagine doing much more.  And, the DRAMA that goes on behind the scenes.

Or, is it just me that finds the behind the public posts backstabbing to be a bit too much?

I have nothing against Tommy as a person, and only assumed that someone from the other site, not only him, created the cartoon.

I don't keep track of my friend requests on Facebook, as I don't spend much time on Facebook to begin with, but it's likely that I did ask to add him as a friend along with many different GCA people I'm now "friends" with on there. I did apply to become a member of Max's Lounge when it first was started, to which I didn't get a response (very classy), but I'm not sure how I can try to log-in "multiple times" if I'm not a member?

A friend did give me his log-in information for Max's Lounge, and I'm happy to report it took about 5 min to see that there is nothing of interest being discussed there. As many participants on GCA know, it's essentially 10% quality golf course discussion, 40% discussion based on what's going on on GCA.com, 30% of "My Favorite Female Pictures" and 20% random. It's harmless and really not of note until people from there build videos ragging on this site and it's participants in the name of "humor." Why did I log in to that site? Because I'll read anything if it has to do with quality discussion of golf courses, but there is far more of that here.

Of course this type of a thread is exactly what those at the other site wanted when they made that video, and perhaps I'm dumb enough to take the bait and to actually waste time discussing it. To anyone who is interested in that type of "humor" they are more than welcome to it, but keep it on their own self-important website.

Jeff,

I agree...this behind the scenes warfare is really something most of us got past in 8th grade.

If I have something to say to someone, I say it here.  If they don't like it they can respond in kind.

This backroom rumor crap is what created the bad blood between David and I in the first place, and its corrosive and ultimately hurts every one who cares about how we and our causes are perceived.
