with available time a definitely varying commodity, i was wondering what other golf websites fellow GCAers visit on a REGULAR basis? What are their strenghts and weaknesses? Thanks for the input.

I have recently found a very useful forum called
Golf Equipment Aficionados.
http://forums.delphiforums.com/golfequip/start

The forum is a Delphi one and not a modern YABB one like Golfclubatlas, so it's a little cluttered. I believe they are renovating it shortly though so it will be much better soon. The regulars on that site are always keen to help out with any questions you have.

Mark, I actually prefer the Delphi interface.  For one thing, you don't have to re-read old messages unless you want to.  And it marks threads that you've participated in, so you can call those up easily (via the "Display High Interest" command). One tip I would suggest is to put your settings on "Advanced View" and also select that you want 20 messages per thread displayed.

An interesting site I came across by way of Golf Journal is www.puttingzone.com. It has in-depth articles on greens construction, turfgrass cultivars, etc. plus much more.  Try it.

I wouldn't say that I check the site out a lot, but www.golfcourse.com  , GOLF magazine's reference site
for courses around the country is one I look at. Even
some of the more obscure courses are bound to have
customer reviews on them. Take them for what their worth.

As far as the GEA goes, it is moving from Delphi soon.  Good addresses that now refer to Delphi will I presume go to the new site.  They are

www.4gea.com

www.golfaficionados.com

http://www.uk-golfguide.com        Very useful and fun to surf through the many courses and player feedbacks.

At their Scottish Forum there is a gentleman offering a swap of play at Cruden Bay for a (considered) round at yours.  (I sense he is thinking locally but perhaps not.)

www.scottishsport.co.uk/walking/index.htm    (yeah, they have golf too at /golf/)
