Don't know about the voice, never shy about using it. The matter is whether certain people listen or not. These changes are significant and will tremendously improve a great golf course.

if you back your plans up about 3 weeks I can arrange for you to christen the new holes. Actually would love to arrange a GCA outing to coincide with the opening of the new holes in early December.

5 1/2 months for two holes is not all that quick. Woulod be much sooner but the approach for hole #6 will be delayed until mid to late October.

Greg,
How much of a hook would I need to hit the ocean? That green looks CLOSE.

6 is a Biarritz and 7 is a Redan or is it the opposite?

The water is pretty close but it is a short hole (140 from the tips) and the wind will fight the ball heading toward the sea. That said, it will certainly happen from time to time.

  Greg,

On 6 keep the original green...put in the new green.....and a swell in between and it is a Biarritz...the golfer will be amazed by the green architecture and not destracted by the ocean.

Excellent idea, hole could play from 50 to 190 yards and take half the morning to mow. I have seen pics of you operating golf course equipment, any chance you are availoable at 5:30 in the morning for the next decade or so?

Not only that Greg, but it would be great marketing.........."Come play the only Biarritz in Mexico".....and because of the mowing you could reverse the front and back nines.

After a couple of days under the blade of the Evel Kneivel of shapers, Jerame Miller, the new holes are coming to life. Hopefully some pics tomorrow.

Do other shaper's greens refelct the music on their Ipod? I think Jerame was listening to Metallica before we changed the channel for some Sinatra.

Looks like this course may be known for one of the best sets of par 3s in the world. I just wish there was a place to miss it on that downhill one.

Anthony, If all courses were designed to accommodate your misses we would be out of usable land at this time!  ;)

Actually there are plans to enlarge the "bail out" area on 13. Then again the suport BEHIND the green provides a bit of a back stop so taking the extra club is FAR better than the alternative. Eveyr course needs a very difficult par 3 and the 13th is ours. THat said the 130 yard shot on 7 will be nearly as exacting. I hoenslty believe this will become my favorite hole on the course but I am a sucker for shoties as evidences my fondness for the 366 yard 14th as well. Ironically the 580 uphill 2nd gets the nod as favorite par 5 on the course, just such precision required on the layup and the approach.

Paul, Should be laying some sod next week after the final shaping of the greens and surrounds. New 7th should open on or about November 1 and the new 6th sometime in mid-December as we will have to go in an complete the approach once we are able to close the current hole.

I believe we are going to go ahead and relocate the 5th green per Jack's previous site visit. The green would move back another 15-25 yards onto the beach. Seņor Lipe is back this coming week and we'lll take a look at this green during his visit. Hopefully his visit goes well as I plan to fly back withy him and enjoy a Mounatineer beatdown of his LSU Tigers next Saturday.

Diamante is doing quite well from I understand. That said it is tough to get the real story from those guys but apparently the lot sales (Sunset hills) have gone well and they have opened up some lots down around the 15th green... better come with drift fences galore.

I will try to get some photos of the new holes up pre and post sodding... The tee locations are as cool and spectacular as anything I have seen... better than thye famed 17th here if that tells you anything.

THis crowd will love this but I am seriously considering having fishing gear on these tees for times when play gets backed up (back to back par 3's!). You see tons of fish from the 6th tee in particular.

A few recent images of the work on the new holes:

#6 green just sprigged - shot from right side of approach

#6 green from left of the green site

#6 green from left side

Shot from 25 yards short - more or less the site line from the tee complex

From 20 yards righ of green
