OMG - A kid from Ireland does not wax poetic about the wonders of seaside links golf while at the same time bashing Nicklaus/Fazio/Rees... He must have crawled out from under a rock or at the very least be a crack addict.

Now thats funny.

63-80=143 -1 :-[

That 80 might be why he doesn't like links golf.

It's insane to rip a guy for his opinion on a message board which is 99 percent about opinion. Remember the old saying: "My idea of an agreeable person is a person who agrees with me." - anon.

Methinks they'll give Rory M. an honorary membership at Medinah when the 2012 Ryder Cup rolls around.

Tim C and Greg T.:

To be fair, only ONE person in the 25 posts before yours "ripped" McIlroy for his opinion.  Most of the rest explained it away to personal preference or what suits his game or whatever else.

This is one of the problems with this DG.  It only takes one opinion that [some] others think is out of line to bring out the pitchforks.  You should have just taken Mr. JNC Lyon to task, individually.

Fair enough - JNC, Please note my previous post is in refernece to your comments. Can we all lighten up a bit? Geez. I need a course stocked with Tequila and gazpacho to take the edge off after a day reading GCA!

We may have visions of RM dancing like a sugarplum farie around Portrush with a nice sea breeze in his hair, but at the end of the day why should we be surprised that another tour pro, whose daily focus is to hit from point A to point B and have the ball stop stone dead at point B, espouses this preference?

Credit to Rory. He had a miserable day yesterday, but didn't throw a club or swear oaths at the camera.

Today, he went out and started over and had a nice 69, despite a double at 17. In an interview just after finishing with the BBC, he wryly commented that he had had some practice in the wind. He will give it his all tomorrow too, and put what he has learnt to good use another time.

I think he has a wise head on young shoulders, whatever his take on the merits of links vs parkland.
