I'll say this about Celizic, he's not my favorite writer by far.  But, any time that I've ever sent him an e-mail taking him to task, he ALWAYS answers me.  I give him tons of credit for that.  Plus, I think a good writer makes me think about stuff, and I sure don't often write to others, so maybe he's better than I give him credit for.

Scoring today is obviously low, but not universally so--Harrington and Cabrera at +1, Mickelson at +2 thru 16, Furyk at +5. 

Of all the Open courses, TOC is the one most dependent on weather as a defense.  Maybe that's a good thing, but as a tournament venue, I prefer many of the other courses--Muirfield, Royal St. George's, even Birkdale, Turnberry and Lytham.

Aliss has annoyed me for years.  The idea of a sport being represented to the public by a man who symbolises so much of what is wrong with the sport is appalling.  He has no real insight and clings to an era best left behind.  The rest of the BBC team, though, are pretty good.

I just mean the luck of the draw....If the wind blows 25 mph tomorrow afternoon vs. more benign morning conditions, or visa-versa...I really want to see how McIlroy will hang with a 2-3 club wind...

I am for and pro technology. It should be used to keep the game consistent not to improve players scores. That is IMHO nothing short of bloody cheating by stealth thanks to the lack of understanding over the years by the R&A.

We all know that the clubs and balls are the main reasons many reach the Greens in one shot but because we all hope that one day we  might also succeed in that feat so we keep quiet, yet all know its just a big lie. But winning and beating our previous score seems to be worth it to some. Yet at what cost to the game, how many of you have actually thought about that?

Golf requires the golfer to be honest not just with others but first and foremost  with oneself .

Nevertheless used correctly for the good of the game I am certainly a supporter of technology, but not to aid ones score.

Ally  has understood my position on the subject .

As for Peter, I enjoy his humour, his TV coverage with his open and honest chat, am surprised to see others don’t.

St Andrews is a fairly easy course, with holes like 1 - 3 - 7 - 9 - 10 - 12 and 18 plus a pair of par fives, in still conditions and after rain a 63 is easily on, a 60 would be a good call if conditions stay the same.
If (and I dont think it is) TOC is redundant, it is because of driveable par 4 holes, but what does it matter if they are long threes, short fours, who cares about par anyway. If pros shoot 60 so what?

On a seperate note I am not sure if this works in the USA, type www.bbc.co.uk  then go to tv find BBC2 and you can watch the live 12 hour per day OPEN.

Actually he grew up ay Holywood, which is a parkland course near Belfast, but he has good links experience from his amateur days.

They are predetermined David, you play in the same group of 3 and the early players say match 1 become say match 20 for day 2 and match 2 becomes 21 etc.. day 1s match 36 becomes day 2s match 56 and day 1s match 37 becames day 2s 1 etc.
