Photo tour of the Pete Dye Golf Club (broken URLs now fixed!)

The recent thread on the Pete Dye Golf Club reminds me of the wonderful GCA gathering organized by Charlie Dusic in 2008.  I never really presented a rather comprehensive photo tour of the course, which I'll do now.  I had not given much detailed thought of PDCG since 2008, but the recent thread got my brain going.  Like George Pazin mentioned, I was surprised how easily I could recall the entire layout in my head.  Rarely do courses do that for me after just a single visit.

PDGC is pretty beastie from the back tees (76.9/147) and plays out to 7248.  Here is the routing:

I think this course looks absolutely amazing. I got the chance to play The Honors Course this spring and loved it and this looks even better. Sorry George, obviously my opinion isn't that important since I haven't been there but it sure looks like it has 8 or 9 written all over it.

The opening post on the other thread is from John Vander Borght. Anyone who has read my posts knows that I think the world of JVB. He is a larger than life figure to me, literally and figuratively. He said PDGC is the best of the Pete Dye courses he's played. I also consider Ryan a friend and I respect his opinion. We simply differ on our view of what is great in golf.

Does everyone need to agree that Jackson Pollack is a worthwhile addition to the art scene? That he's great?

How about Monet relative to Da Vinci? Shakespeare to Conrad? Someone want to make those comparisons?

How unreal is it that Matt Ward, who disagrees agree with me over ONE aspect of Black Mesa
(it's playability for high handicappers, for those with better things to do than follow our ridiculous debate) calls out my comparison - after being asked! - to Oakmont while throwing out Pine Valley and Bethpage Black in his defense of Black Mesa?
