I've never met Bob and only "know" him from his posts. But I always think "there's a classy guy" when I read what he writes.

Best wishes Bob!

Update:  Mr. Huntley himself has reported this morning that he feels shitty (his words!) but he is battling on (also his words)... more information about his condition and recovery treatments to follow.

Keep the toughts and prayers coming.

I am neither surprised he's feeling shitty (that blood clot stuff is brutal) or that he is battling on (given who we're dealing with here).

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

I have not had the pleasure in meeting Sir Bob ... yet, but just from this news alone it's pretty obvious what a "trooper" he is.  Bob sounds like the kind of guy I'd go to "battle" with in a tough team match.

Great positive attitude and looking forward to seeing him back out there.

I had yet to meet Mr. Huntley, but he was kind enough to first host a friend of mine from Pittsburgh who was in town to play CPC.  Then a short time later he hosted a friend from St. Louis and myself on a very, very blustery day on the Dunes.  Both of those guys still talk about their games at MPCC, and marvel at how they managed to lose all the money they had in their pocket  ;) that day!

Here's to a speedy recovery!

There isn't much more that can be said about Bob Huntley that folks on here don't already know, but if you haven't read this, you should:

A Profile in Courage, along with the related threads A Golf Course Owner's Tale: a short, tough, but worthwhile read and Eric Knapp - 1960-2009.

I feel lucky to call Bob a friend, and I haven't even met him yet.

I just checked in on the site to find the terribly distressing news about Bob, and the hopeful update. I'm going to focus on the latter, as Bob would.

Like many I have never met the man, but I have learned and been entertained by his stories over the years.  I always click on the threads when I see his name as the last poster knowing there was a nugget of information I was about to pick up.

Keep fighting Bob.  All of us are pulling hard for you.

Bob,

I wish you a speedy recovery.  If half of the things I have heard other members of this forum say about you are true, you are one hell of a man.

Bob --

We've never met, as you know, except via IMs and e-mails -- but I've been counting on meeting you in the flesh, someday ... if only to hear you say "What a pity" as I miss a vital little putt!

Fight on, sir. We need you 'round here.

Bob,

Get well soon.  The round at MPCC is certainly one of my most cherished golf memories.  You are a true gentleman and simply an amazing storyteller.  There can never be enough Bob Huntley's in this world.

I was lucky enough to receive a phone call from Bob a few moments ago.  He has been home for a few days now, feeling a bit better and is on the road to recovery ...

He asked me to pass on his sincere thanks for all the good wishes, thoughts and prayers, he is overwhelmed with all the IMs and emails he has received from his friends on GCA.
