This is Stonewall GC, a Tom Doak and Gil Hanse (two posters here) design in Elverson, PA, way outside Philadephia, close to Reading and closer to Lancaster than Philadelphia, but Philly is where the members mostly hail from. Before Pacific Dunes, Doak called Stonewall his greatest design. Jay Sigel had a big influence on Stonewall getting built. Not sure if Bill Kittleman was involved. There are plans to build another 18-hole course here. Stonewall is walking only, hence no paths. It is also hilly.
I lived in the Philly area while the course was being built, and I remember the Inquirer's series of articles on the construction of Stonewall. I was also in the area when Hartefeld National was being built, and they (Davis Sezna) promised $30 green fees
. Really.
Clue alert: "Confidentially" referred to ("genius") Doak's Confidential Guide, of which he gave Stonewall an 8 and considered hole #18, which literally abuts the clubhouse (goes NNW from lower right corner), as one of his greatest holes.
Thomas Jackson is the "General", as in General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson.
