Western PA:

1. Can't say I have one that fits this bill. Mystic Rock would probably be the choice for most, it's not really for me, just don't waste your hard earned big money on Olde Stonewall. My pick would probably be Quicksilver.

2. Almost impossible question for this area: there are tons of cheap courses, most aren't that great. I personally have strong feelings for my home muni - North Park GC - it's a wonderful walk/hike through the park, but it's not much architecturally. At $15-20, though, it's hard to top as a bargain.

3. Come on, you don't really need me to answer this, do you? For other recommendations, ask JohnV, he knows the private side much better than I.

I enjoyed Limestone Springs, witnessed my friend double eagle #16.

Played one of the Huntsville RTJ courses, Highlands?  I think that is what it was called, pretty forgettable course and at $65 hardly a bargain. 

 

Yeah, a handful of the RTJ sites are worth it, but I guess they make up for the bargains with the other ten sites. The Shoals is one of the bargains. Huntsville is definitely not.

Ha!  I edited my previous post with that exact sentiment as you were typing JZ!  And you're right of course.  I love the Hills, had tons of memorable rounds there, but never paid.  Another bargain IMO is Old South, a fun course by GCA's own Clyde 'The Glide' Johnston.  But I just looked it up and man it's pushing $100 too!
