Per George Freeman's initiative, I have been granted permission to host up to 32 players in the inaugural Midwest GCA event at Lost Dunes Golf Club, the weekend of May 15-16, 2010.

This has to come together relatively quickly so we can commit to the club.  So, we need to be sure we have at least 24 players sign up.  Maximum field is 32.  First come, first serve -- you've got to sign up on this thread.

George will be making further arrangements with Pete Han, the professional at Lost Dunes, since I'm traveling in Europe the next three weeks.  I'm sure he will make further posts as the details emerge.  Golf fees are $105 per round; caddies available but not mandatory; we'll have Saturday dinner at Lost Dunes, price TBD; and we hope everyone will stay over at Lost Dunes in their cottages on Saturday night.

I've suggested to George that the teams be divided east and west ... that is, Michigan and east vs. Chicago and west -- although we'll likely need to swap out a player or two to make the teams even strength.  I will be glad to captain the Michigan / east squad, and to share my knowledge of the greens with them.  Hope to see you all there.

I'd like to play at least one day for the West squad.  Please let us know if you need a commitment for two days, or if you're willing to mix it up in case you need the spots to let more people in

Thanks George and Tom!

My feelings are hurt.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Put me in the last group for the Chicago side.  I can't confirm my attendance yet due to possible work travel, so I don't want to take up a spot of one of the required 12....

Eric:

I will leave this question for the West captain, when we have one.  I'm sure it would be easier for the club if there are 24 or 32 players, and the same number of diners.  If you were on my team, I would put you in tandem with the next guy who wants to play for one day, as long as the two of you could agree who plays which day.

Shivas:  It will certainly be match play, so you're in.  And call whomever you want, for either side, but we need to hear about it on this thread if they are going to be part of the event.

Tom, I'd love to play.  Team Michigan!  If possible, I'd like sign up another gca member, Kris Belcher.  He's got some computer problems, he'll chime in as soon as that's taken care of... he just doesnt want to miss the opportunity.

Tom/George-

This sounds like a great event. So much so that it may trump Kingsley in July.

A couple of logistics questions though:

Are we just playing 18 each day at the Dunes? If it's 36 is it $105 per round or for the day?

What's the rate for Saturday night in the cottages?

Could one of the other rounds (if not 36 at LD) be at the Warren course at Notre Dame?

Sorry for all the questions but would like to get the details hammered out before I can justify to the wife and pull the trigger.  ;D
Did you know World Woods has the best burger I've ever had in my entire life? I'm planning a trip back just for another one between rounds.

I'm in for golf and dinner Saturday the 15th if 1 day reservations are ok.  I have a potential conflict on Sunday the 16th which will be clarified in the next week or two.

Patrick / Chris:

It's $105 per round, I believe, with the idea of one round Sat. and one on Sun. at Lost Dunes.  But, George has to confirm this next week.  If there is a third round, it will probably be at The Dunes Club ... but almost certainly closer than the Warren course.

The cottages work out to $80 per night if you are sharing a room (each room has two king beds).

Dan Moore:

Which side of the lake do you represent?  If it's west, can you work out to be the other half of the Eric Terhorst entry?

Thanks Tom, The Dunes Club would be a great second venue if it works. I think I better sign up now.

As a Minnesota native I should probably play for the West team but now that I am officially a Florida resident I'd love to play on the East team if you'll have me.

If anyone is interested in setting up a round at the Warren course on Friday afternoon perhaps on the way from Chicago let me know.

I am obviously in!

I'll be a floater as far as teams go, as I grew up in Michigan but now live in Chicago - I can go either way.

I will keep the details coming as I get them.
