Harbuor Town.........Gives us something
« on: February 25, 2010, 02:50:24 PM »
  Flat land.....uninspiring...

Give us some water....we're thirsty for some interest

Give us a variety of green shapes......the boomer rang gives us chills

Spice up our bunkers. Give us a deep one....a narrow one......throw in a tree

Bring on the trees..pinch the entry...put one dead center of the fairway........Thank You

  The railroad ties..............heaven

Even an alligator here and there helps.........quirk me!!!

  Anthony

Great pics, it makes me wonder how many golf balls one would need to have to finish out an 18 hole round. Does it play as tight as it looks?

It's pretty daggone tight, although you probably won't lose too many balls unless they go in the water, it's fairly residential.

Lots of really cool features to the course, as long as you don't mind the hallway feel.  #11 - #15 I seem to remember as being especially narrow.

I always enjoy your take, Anthony.

No photos, as far as I can tell, of #8, which may be the best hole on the golf course.

Anthony, how far over the green did that bunker shot sail?  ;)

Thanx for the pix.

Actually it looks like he skulled it into the ties which shot it up and to the right. I don't think that makes it any better though.  :)

I can't disagree with that.  The approach into #8 is great with the water and bunker hugging the left side.  The safe miss is right of the green leaving a fairly easy up and down.  It's hard to judge the wind because you're hitting out of a shoot into an exposed right side for the last 100 yards or so.

I played HT twice recently.  In my first round from the middle of the fw I missed just right with an easy chip to save par.  In the second round from the same spot I got greedy and drew my iron a little too much....next thing I know, I'm tapping in for a 6.  A great hole.

I loved this course...I actually didn't think it played that narrow relative to loosing balls.  Being blocked from hitting the green in regulation, now that is another matter!!  And I LOVED the quirk is provided...frankly, coming down the fairway and seeing that bunker on 13 was quite something!!

I also found the company to be excellent.  We played this course on foot either carrying our own bags or having our caddy help us out, Anthony changed in and out of caddy gear on the course, and we chatted and joked but everyone was respectful of each other and the game and we finished in 3 hours and some change...not that time matters that much, I guess I am just trying to say a foursome can walk, have fun, and make solid time.

Also, I've seen Brad Klein quoted as saying "it isn't how well you play, but how well you handle how you play" and I think we all handled our play well.  We have bad breaks from time to time despite well struck shots and didn't allow it to affect us negatively.  Great attitudes displayed by all.

Great course, great company, great time!!!  Thanks Eric!!!

That must be a piece of fuzz on the lense. I think I was left with a kick in ;). Those ties are slanted for a reason :D.

Alot of pine straw under those trees. Tight but not impossible.

Approach shot to No 8 is the third pic down from "Bring on the trees". Threw the gap with the green in the distance. Bunker and then water to the left.

I can lose balls with my driver on any nearly any course but don't think I lost one at HT - so I few it as a wide course from an OB standpoint.  The oaks do encroach the fairway so I had a whole bunch of recovery shots, and the small greens actually helped me narrow my focus and execute.  I love the concept and course.

Hey Mike. Yep, these were taken a week ago.  I remember you there back in the mid 90's.  You were good buddies with Joe, one of the staff professionals and his gal Michelle A, right?  I was on staff at PD.

The problem with you Anthony, is that you never post about architecture as you are too busy calling attention to yourself!

Played HT yesterday at Verizon Heritage Media Day...probably my 15th trip to the GC over the last dozen years.

There are many opps to lose golf balls there, contrary to previous opinion.  3 of the par-3 holes have water in play, there is water left on the par-5 5th hole all the way down, same to the right of the tee shot on 6, left of 8 on the approach, left of 10 on the drive, left of 15 on the 2nd shot, and the marsh can swallow errant tee balls or approach shots on the finisher..a bad day will definitely deplete one's ball supply!
