Supposedly it's the oldest course (1922) on the Big Island of Hawaii, and just a couple of miles from the currently active creater in the Kilauea caldera.  Anyone know anything about it?  I recently had lunch in the clubhouse (which along with the course is open to the public) and from what I could see of the course it looked interesting.  This is serious.

I played it 10 years ago.  its ok.  only worth playing if you don't want to pay the higher green fees of the better courses on the island.

The original nine was re-done by Arthur Jack Snyder in the 1960s. Jack added nine at the same time. One of the few courses to sit mostly on land owned by the National Park Service. One of its unique features is a nearly unequal weather pattern from one nine to the other. Both rainfall and wind can be grossly different. Last I heard it was up for a lease transfer.

I didn't think it was worth the ride from the Kona area but I'm trying to play every course in the state sooner or later.
