Exactly what golf needs.  Great stuff.  I wonder if a new model could be created where donors pitched in to buy soon to be defunct courses and turn them into cheap public courses focused on kids and golf.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

I say we get in the spirit and chip in here and donate used equipment, or fund kid-sized rentals.

Very cool.

Tom,

Looking at the plan, I'm wondering how long those short holes - and the range area - are, exactly? Just curious.

I really hope this starts a trend in other cities as this is a fantastic idea.

Tom, the 4th hole looks like a perfect place for a redan!!!  :) ;)

Congrats to Tom and Renaissance for taking on this project - it is exactly the type of thing that we should be doing to grow the game and inspire kids to strive for success in life through the real life skills that golf can teach. Fantastic!

I have posted before on the need for architects that have made it to give back.  Too many of the top architects only do very upscale publics or privates.  I want to salute Tom for doing this on top of Common Ground.  Now if he would only come to the northeast, preferably New England, and do a reasonably priced public  :D... When people talk about growing the game this is the way.  It also helps, at least a bit, to counter the elitist image of the game.  Tom, thank you!!

Very exciting to see projects like this.

Will there be heated hitting bays for winter use?

Great stuff Tom. Projects like this would eradicate the public's perception of golf as a stuffy, rich-man's game in a heartbeat (well, quite quickly).

Thank you, Tom.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Now if we can just get projects like this (with or without Tom  ;) ) going in other areas that need them.

I am going on the board of our local First Tee this spring.  Our big project is going to be a short game practice area at University of
West Florida that First Tee kids will use for regular practice and events.  I will most likely try to get Jerry Pate's design team involved, they are local here in Pensacola.

Thank you for doing this.  If I (or we) can do anything to help there, or guide in any way let me know

Tom Doak, if I am reading the scale correctly, this is a 62 acre site - 1800' x 1500'.  Is this correct?
Any idea what the final construction budget would be?  It's a really good layout.
