Interesting. They weren't very precious back then, were they -- using what they had and letting that necessity shape the result (like finding a place to fit in Fenway Park), routing courses around and in between roads and railways etc, with nary a complaint about not having a "great site" and instead just taking years to make a course better and (if it had a loyal membership) a club that thrived.

The course was located in the area below what's now known as Crandall Park.



Eventually it became YCC and moved up the road a bit to new digs

Very cool, Jim.   I wonder if any of that proposed extension was ever built as supposedly at least one of the original holes was "found" and utilized in the 1923 Flynn course.

Noticed that there was a practice ground at Altadena in 1911, Maniac Hill was 1913(?) - any earlier than the one at Altadena, at least here in the US?
