Incidentally, the Geoffrey Cornish routing of Wilkes Barre shown in that photo must have been very preliminary.   It looks nothing like that.

That is fascinating, Candler Park was build in the late 20's, so this must be a proposed redesign of the original course, and a substantial one at that. Not a single original hole would have been retained. Do you have a link to the corresponding article?

This is an interesting artist’s rendition of what the early St. Andrews (NY) courses and surrounding area looked like.  This map was in a book titled “Back Then” published in 1990.  I’m not sure of the original date or source, but many of the photographs in the book are from the Library of Congress or NY Times.
