GCA'ers at Golf Industry Show in San Diego

If any GCA'ers are planning to attend the Golf Industry Show in San Diego Feb 7-14 is there any interest in getting together for either golf, dinner, or both?

Wow all I can hear is crickets chirping. Either the attendance at the GIS this year will be drastically down or the GCAers have become anti social. Maybe next year in Orlando!

I will be in Palm Springs golfing in the GCSAA Championships until. 2/07. I will also be going to Riveria for the Northern Trust and stopping in at LACC and seeing the new Superintendent. I will be in San Diego until the 11th. Please let me know if there is a get together.

Rob,

I will give a presentation at Remodel U on Monday morning and be at the trade show on Wedesday.  I will be in the Golf Industry Magazine booth, where I understand they have organized a dunk tank with their major columnists as dunkees...... ;)  I will spend the rest of the time on the floor and/or in the ASGCA booth.

I will be there, Rob. One of my duties is to help Brauer learn to spell L-A-R-E-D-O, and do some geography tutoring. Sylvan Learning with a twist. Would be fun to get together if there is a mutual time.

  I will be in S.D. Tues. - Fri. only.  On a shoestring this year due to cut backs.  I am busy Tues. night but there is Dublin Square Irish pub a few blocks away from convention center.  May Wednesday night?

Skipping this year to attend a week long Business Mgmt Course at Cornell
(my alma mater).  Looking forward to visiting my old stomping grounds

Slag — The TRENDS panel is comprised of Robert Trent Jones, Jr. (environmental approvals), Greg Martin (affordable courses); Erik Larsen (social and economic benefits); and Yours Truly (creative land planning to expose new developable land).

I will forever be know as "The guy who carves up courses to find new land..." after this panel.

The Field pours some good Guiness. And you can get a Black & Tan which is Guiness over Harp I think. So lets hear from our brothers across the pond.

How can course design address the trend of golfers having less time and money to spend on the game? How do the technological changes in balls and clubs affect course design? What are some of the design trends being developed in the international golf market? These questions and more will be addressed by the current President of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, Doug Carrick, ASGCA, and a panel of leading ASGCA achitects.
