I'll put forth three that haven't been mentioned in this thread...all in SC.

1. Cherokee Plantation--The idea of ultra-ultra exclusive courses fascinates me.  From what I've heard about the place, it is in a very, very interesting location.
2. The Dunes (Myrtle Beach)--Even though I've spent tons of time in the summer in the Grand Strand area, I've not yet had the pleasure of playing the Dunes.  Sometime I will.
3. Bulls Bay--Another course within an hour of Pawleys Island that I would love to play sometime.

My current hit list:

USA only:

Crystal Downs
Kingsley Club
Chicago (yeah, hard to believe coming from me)
CC of St. Louis
Mountain Lake
Old Town
Yeaman's Hall
MPCC Shore (equally hard to believe)
Clear Creek
Sand Hills
High Pointe
Ballyneal
Lawsonia
Old Mac (beyond hard to believe)
Bandon Trails
Chambers Bay
Palouse Ridge
Olympic at Gold Mountain
Stockton CC
Franklin Hills
Salem CC
Seminole
Pine Tree
Forest Highlands
Prairie Dunes
Brookline
Fox Chapel
LACC North
La Purisima
Valley Club Montecito

And for the record , for all those access whores who would sell their teenage daughter to a Hell's Angel's brothel for a tee time at ANGC, I do not care a whit if I ever play it. I would be just as happy with a putter, three balata golf balls and an hour each to study the putting surfaces on #9,12,14,16 and 17 with Uncle George Bahto.

Since I have finished reading JC's Humerous FL threads I figured I would give this a go. Hmmmm this is harder than I thought and you put
course not courses .

Man I'm getting a headache this is to hard I pass.

I hope to be coming over to America sometime next year for an archi trip, so my list of courses is helluva long. But in Australia I'd say Ellerston, Kennedy Bay, Lake Karrinyup and Royal Adelaide.

Oh, and ANGC and CP wouldn't be bad either.   :)

Andrew Thomson

Chicago GC and San Francisco GC.

I'll play Chicago next time I'm in the US, but don't imagine ever getting to San Fran, but then again, I'm only a youngster.

Having played 70 of the top 100, my list is pretty short. I have become fascinated by Myopia Hunt and Newport, and will try to get on those at some point, as well as some other older NE gems, like Cape Arundel. I toured it in the rain last year, but didn't play.  Just getting back to the roots, I guess.  For contrast, i would like to round out my Strantz portfolio, including Bulls Bay.

Jimmy Chandler-

I decided to eliminate ANGC and Cypress from consideration because I presumed a large number of people would choose these courses based on their lofty ranking, architectural significance, and mystique.  I also presumed that many people had not played them (especially ANGC) due to difficuly in getting access.  By eliminating these two "obvious" choices, I think the question will elicit a more diverse list of courses.

Best-

Hardly anybody is able to name just one course, so I won't either...

1. TOC (because it is TOC and because I entered the ballot in 2002, but got a late afternoon start time that would have made me miss my flight)
2. Crystal Downs (Pictures of the course fascinate me; terrain and design make it seem like the ideal place to play golf)
3. The bandon courses (I will put that right as I have flights and Tee-times booked for early June)

Phil_the_Author

For me, in the following order:

1- San Francisco Golf Club
2- Shinnecock Hills
3- Royal Melbourne
4- Merion
5- Seminole

Mike Sweeney

The Old Course with FBD
Royal Dornoch with Rich
Rye with Dylan Sweeney - looks like a perfect course for him and he spends a few weeks in England with his aunt each summer
Ballybunion
RCD

As the kids get older, hopefully the travel will increase in a few years.

TOP 5

Plainfield
Fenway
Myopia Hunt Club
Dornoch
Cruden Bay

I'd like to walk Merion and Pine Valley (hoping to spectate The Crump Cup this year!) rather than play because I sense I would
really butcher them both and not do them justice.

Bogey
Two Corinthians walk into a bar ....

Tom Huckaby

Santa Teresa.

Have I told you lately that I love you?
 ;D ;D

Gib, put me down for selling my teenage daughter to a Hell's Angel's brothel for chance to play Augusta National; just make sure I get at least 54 holes for this, OK?  As much as I love Uncle George (having shared some long car rides and much fun to and from and at the greatest course on the planet with him), I'd get very frustrated just putting balls around greens anywhere.  I want to play the course, man.  I'd drag George along and make him play.

Quite seriously, though the list of courses world-wide is very very long that I want to play, I have no holy grails in terms of courses except this one.  Oh hell I rarely turn down a round for which I have a hall pass, and great courses remain sought out for sure.... but there are indeed none except Augusta for which divorce is a fair trade, and price is no matter.

So I guess I do not count on this thread.

Santa Teresa.....but this has proved an extremely difficult nut to crack!!  ;D

FISHERS ISLAND- I'm sorry, but nothing gets me more excited about golf than seeing real firm turf.  And Fishers Island looks to be about the most F&F course in America.

NGLA-  looks to be the most fun you could imagine having on a golf course.

The six courses I most want to play....

Royal Melbourne (East & West)
Hirono
Kingston Heath
Barnbougle Dunes

Hopefully, I will rectify this in the near future...

Top 5

Crystal Downs (The terrain and the greens are captivating)
Valley Club Montecito (The setting in the Santa Barbara mountains, the clubhouse and it's an Alister MacKenzie course)
Chicago (Steve Salmen's photo tour and course review picqued my curiosity.  Thanks Steve)
Southern Hills (Would be interested in seeing more Maxwell greens)
Cruden Bay (Because it looks like a lot of fun)
