Images from 40 USA Courses for your enjoyment
« on: December 25, 2009, 12:31:07 AM »
It occurred to me today as I perused my external hard drive of photos that I truly began shooting golf courses for golf courses' sake after 2004.  How do I know this?  Simple.  I was at the US Open at Shinnecock that year for five or six days and didn't shoot a single hole for hole's sake.  In addition, I didn't even make an attempt to climb the fence (or whatever) to get onto National Golf Links and shoot that course!  I do, however, have a modest collection of some 40 courses, on my photobucket page.  The list of courses follows this paragraph and the link to the page follows the list.  My plan is to add between 10 and 20 courses each year, some local, some distant, depending on viability of travel.  Some of the courses boast about 40 images, while others have upwards of 300.  I know that I've mentioned these images before; for those who might have missed prior p.r., here it is again:

Great pictures of Seven Oaks.  The grounds crew removed a few dozen pine trees this fall.  The pines between 2 and 3, between 8 and 11, left of 13 fairway, and right of 18 fairway are all gone.  The course has improved greatly.

Removal of Trees?  That is terrific news.

I stumbled onto a quote last night from Bobby Jones to RTJ Senior, in which the great golfer told the budding architect, Robbie, don't use water and compared sand and water to a survivable wreck and a devastating one.  I believe it was from a Lorne Rubenstein (Toronto Globe and Mail) column.  It reminds me that, except for goofy number seven and number 10, he resists H2O overkill at Colgate.

It looks like the course has a new website; if you get a chance, ask them if they used any of my photos on it.

Ronald, thanks for the link.  FYI, the photos listed for Carolina Golf Club are of different course.  Looks like they are the same as those for The Divide.

Well, then, that's a fine howdy-do.  I'll have to upload the proper photos, then.  Thanks, Ed.
