Combined Australia/GB&I Top 50
« on: December 19, 2009, 10:40:43 AM »
Seeing as it is too cold and snowy for golf in the parts of the world where many DG participants live, I thought this might be a fun winter exercise.

Someone commented, I think it may have been Andrew Summerell in his GTK thread, that a combined GB&I/Australian Top 50 might be interesting.

There are two ways to do this depending how familiar you are with each country's courses.

1. Make a combined top 50 list using the two countries. I have put the top 75 of the GB&I Top 100 and the top 25 of the Aussie Top 50 below for reference.

2. If you are familiar with enough courses on one list, but only a few on the other, where would you slot them into the list of the country you know well. If you do this, perhaps a different font colour (or bolded) for the inserted courses will make them easy to spot in the list.

I'll be really interested to see what some of the more well-travelled members come up with.

apart from a handful of Kiwi courses, Pebble Beach, Bethpage and Valderrama, my world list is pretty much an Australian/GB & I list.

My Top 5 wouldn't change, which would be RCD, Dornoch, RMW, Portrush, North Berwick West.

I find it impossible to 'rank' British courses, as most of them I've only played once and other factors would too heavily influence my thoughts.

RCD though is the best course I have played anywhere though.

Scott,

A great idea though I can't really add to it as I've never been down under. However, I hope a few others can post here as I'm interested to know where some of these Australian courses sit in comparison to our courses over here?

Cheers,

James
