I am looking for some info on Houston National.  I know everything thing that there website has on it but has anyone played it?  A typical Von Hagge or something special?  What are conditions like year around?  Any info will help.

It's about 10 minutes down the road from me.  It's a typical Von Hagge at best.  Housing development course.  It can get pretty baked out when it is dry and right now it is likely under water.  This year they've reduced their green fees by around $20 in an effort to get more play.  I'm not sure how that has worked.  There are 4 public courses within about two miles of HN and it would be #4 on that list behind Blackhorse South, Cypress Lakes and Blackhorse North.

The conditions have been much, much improved since the current superintendent and mgmt company have been in place - few years?
Thinking of Bob, Rihc, Bill, George, Neil, Dr. Childs, & Tiger.

I would agree with that.  The last time I played (maybe a year ago), the conditioning was on par or close to the three other area courses that I mentioned.  I believe the green fees at the other three are higher or much higher than those at Houston National.  They also have a very nice clubhouse and hosted a great banquet after the event.  That being said there are still a few holes out there that could be blown up and they'd be better for it.

The course should be aborted. When they were building the course I was in high school, we would park our cars behind the the giant mounds and drink.
