Hey Boo Bird,

While your spamming our thread care to give us some thoughts on nice picks!  ;)

OK, but it will take me a few minutes to switch from Jet fan mode to Giant Fan (recent drafts.)

Seth Raynor--Mountain Lake (FL), Country Club of Fairfield, Fox Chapel.

Team Name: "95.1, The Fox Chapel".  There is a radio station in Rochester called 95.1, The Fox.  We added "chapel" to the name on the way down to Pittsburgh.

Eric Smith - Well done - you took my next pick - those are three great MacKenzie courses!
Jim - Nice work there as well - surprised that Alison's great work in Japan lasted this long.

I have a meeting in a few so I'll throw out my three just in case Mr Lyon takes one -

1. Hanse -Castle Stuart, Rustic Canyon, Boston Golf Club
2. Hackett - Carne, Eniscrone, Waterville (I need some links courses)

Rob's picks were here so JNC is up again.

Don't think either of these GCAs have been used yet - yeah, bizzles, that's how I'm rolling. :)

1. Hanse -Castle Stuart, Rustic Canyon, Boston Golf Club
2. Hackett - Carne, Eniscrone, Waterville (I need some links courses)

These are my two - I'll use this one next time around because no one else will - this guy is way to unknown :)

3. AV Macan - Cal Club, Royal Colwood, Shaughnessy GC

Great.  May we please have the list on this page please.

Actually I was looking into AV Macan because I wrote about him a couple years ago...but i probly won't pick him, but have backups in case.  Cali Club looks like a great pick...but again, it's up in the air...

MacKenzie #1: solid picks, almost chalk, curious that he left off Augusta...

Macdonald #2 with NGLA is excellent

Stranz #3: way too early

Old Tom at #8 is a steal by Eric. RCD, Muirfield and Royal Dornach, yikes!

I like the Doak picks at 9, Flynn at 10 C &C at 11, but....

Colt and PV, Portrush and Sunningdale at #12 is another huge steal

Excellent second round picks by Eric at #23: BB, Cruden Bay

Alex steals Raynor's Fishers Island and Yale at pick  #25

Jaeger getting Carnoustie, Gleneagles and Royal Aberdeen at #33 was a great pick,

Jay made two  great Tilly picks at #33 before getting cute with Sleepy Hollow

Nice Ross picks by Ron at #37, especially Aronomink

I liked Dell's RTJ picks at #44

I have great hopes for the kid at pick #44, guess school gets out at 3 PM :)

I was "filling a need" instead of taking the sexy pick ;D

You gotta have a solid O-line to protect the QB 8)  I got what I wanted.  Play Bulls bay and MPCC and maybe you'll change your mind!  I think it was a good "reach."  NO guarantee he would have been available at 28.

Class all morning, but I finished at 1:10 so now I am ready for GCA drafting in between research on the Mexican-American War.

That Alison pick crushed my draft strategy, but I've come back strong:

Ross - Essex County Club (MA), Plainfield, Country Club of Buffalo (are the quarry holes better than Merion's?  Maybe...)

No question that more of CCB is in quarry than Merion and the holes, therefore, are more varied at CCB; however...

the quarry at Merion is truly where the wild things are...the one at CCB is too pretty these days.

Agreed.  Don't they cut fairway down in the quarry on 11 and 12?  That's weak sauce.  When I was at the Walker Cup I expected to see Dinosaurs roaming around in front of the 17th tee.  However, the 6th at CCB puts its quarry holes over the top.

I agree that we need to extend the draft for two reasons:

1) There are some classic Golden Age architects that have not been selected yet.
2) This draft is too much fun.

Of the Tillie's I have, Sleepy Hollow is my fave.  I won't trade any of your Rosses for Sleepy Hollow, but I will trade The Balsams (Panorama) for Plainfield...interested?  A Ross for a Ross?

Jay,

No on that Balsams trade.  Plainfield is a premier Ross course.  Just can't do it.

Kalen brings up a good point, maybe we should devise a winner system.  My suggestion: GCA-wide vote on who has selected the best courses based on the criteria in the first post.  Thoughts?
