Trevose 1st and 18th
I played in a comp last Sept and was ready to hit my first drive starting to swing back and was stopped by the starter abruptly because a bleedin' car driver wouldn't stop
Thanks to the car driver for putting me off as my first drive went at least 40 yards right
Cheers
Ben
Ben, so the car putting you off was the cause of your wayward drive??? Most of the examples quoted that I know, you can see the road. The real surprise when I played Berkhamstead last year was that you could play the hole without knowing you were teeing off over a road on the 9th, as its in a valley and obscured by vegetation!
A few others spring to mind where you play across a road, but most arent large roads at all and will have minimal use, but still pose dangers if the drivers aren't golfers:
- Teignmouth, an Alister MacKenzie course in Devon, 12th and 15th (first time I visited the area was quite foggy and I drove straight over this road without knowing I was driving over a gold course!
- Rye, 12th
- Is the road on the 2nd at Sunningdale a private or a public road?
- The 8th at Hunstanton crosses a tarmac road, but I think most people park before the course to get to the beech so its more of a footpath really?
- Alwoodley, 17th
- Ganton, someone mentioned 18th but you play over it on the 17th as well.
- Fortrose & Rosemarkie, the par 3 at the far end by Channonry Point
- Tain, 1st and 18th
Cheers,
James
