Is there a betterv stretch of each par than the last three holes at Sand Hills?
To me the last three are the highlight of the course.
Number 18 resembles the last at Shinnecock....17 the best of any links par threes, similar to munber12 at Royal Birkdale..and the mionster of startegy that is number 16....what a glorious stretch...

3-4-5 at CPC

8-9-10 at Pasa

14-15-16 at Valley Club

14-15-16 at LACC North

3-4-5 at Rustic Canyon

It seems like these stretches are much more common than four 4s in a row.  I think this list will be quite exhaustive and while Sand Hills holds up well, there will be countless others equally deserving.   

How about a slight twist on this questions - Does any single course have more high quality three hole stretches of various pars than Kingsley (if Dave can keep going to the well on RCCC then I can do it with Kingsley  ) -

1,2,3 or 5,6,7 or 7,8,9 or 14,15,16 or 15,16,17 or 16,17,18

Now that's a nice mix of pars throughout the round.

a stout pairing i would have to consider would be 7-9 at Crystal Downs. 2-4 Bethpage comes to mind - alot of opportunities in a match. Honorable mention would goto original 16-18 (now 7-9 and nearly completely lost) Oak Hill West. have to think alittle more...

14 (3), 15 (4), 16 (5) at Deal is a great stretch of holes. or 3,4,5 at Deal.
13,14,15 or 3,4,5 at Bethpage Black. 3,4,5 being my preference of the two.

i seem to recall St Georges having a good strech too. Maybe 3,4,5.

A worthy contender. I debated between those 3 and the 3 I posted. 7 is more fun than 17, 18 is probably better than 6, and although I love 16 at Pebble (it's one of my favorites there), 8 is 8, not much more I can say. Either set are fantastic. A worthy thread comparing them perhaps?

I would say it would be hard to beat Royal Melbourne West, #4,5,6 (#14, 5, 6 on the composite).

#4 - Short very reachable par 5, two good shots and you can two-putt for birdie, but they have to be two VERY good shots.
#5 - it was hard for a par 3 hole to stand out when I played the Sandbelt courses because they were so uniformly good but this one did.
#6 - One of the greatest holes in the world

I would put 16-18 at Sand Hills above that.  Which hopefully tells you just how great I think the final three holes at Sand Hills are.

But the holes at Pebble belong in this conversation for sure.

Same thing about Pasatiempo and how great it is.  I would say 4-5-6 is better than 8-9-10.

I personally prefer 3, 4 and 5.  I view Pacific Dunes as the best course I've played so I always think of it when these kinds of questions are asked.  I guess I need to get out more.

And it does indeed work for Pasatiempo also. 

Pacific Dunes.. whoo boy.. darn right many contenders....

But as I think about this, none has yet to surpass 16-18 at Sand Hills.

It's too bad #5 at NGLA isn't in that all world category, otherwise the hands down winner would be 3-4-5 at NGLA.

That is a VERY worthy submission (those are).

But until I actually play Augusta.. and bearing in mind I am with you about it's greatness, my friend... I still choose 16-18 at Sand Hills.  Or let's just say I don't think it gets absolutely stomped by Augusta.

NSWGC 5-7 as well is an all-world stretch as well.

14-16 at Royal Zoute as well. Three really killer holes right there.

On the flip side no coursde anywhere can match Gillette Ridge for putridness of par 3,4,5 combo - holes #2,3, and 4. One of the worst par 5,4,3 combos ever - pre renovation.

Of course the fact the holes had to be renovated 3 years in speaks volumes.
