They were easily the best burgers I came across on the trip. I reckon I've lost weight with all the walking I've done in burning them off ;)

Your characterization of the culinary masterpiece shown in the photo is bordering on blasphemy.  What you see before you is no less than the greatest halfway house food in all of golf.  Saying the burger dog is "dog food" is akin to saying the Mona Lisa is a paint by numbers.

Kevin -- glad to hear you are well after all the golf and food.  I'm just about to head down the block to have a beer with Mike (he's hosting all the neighborhood dads for Halloween)...he's asked how your trip is going so he will be glad to hear the rest went as well as SF.  All the best KR

Pass on my regards to Mike. His chipping style is interesting - I've only seen one other bloke try that style  ;)

Helpful when you have hands the size of mitts (baseball equipment).  Otherwise, I don't think his technique is recommended for anyone else!

Kevin,

Glad you had such a great time.  Meeting the GCA crew is as good as it gets.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you get home and things have settled down.

Kevin, at some point can you give us a list of all the courses you played?  Sounds like a Who's Who of American golf courses.

Jim,

Well then call me a blasphemer and burn me with a crucifix.  A "culinary masterpiece" can only be created out of high quality ingredients, and fairy floss hot dog rolls don't cut the mustard.  And what's with the cheese?  It looks like it has more silicone in it than Pamela Anderson's tits.

The greatest halfway house food in all of golf is the Steak Sandwich at Capital Golf Club, followed by warm chocolate chip cookies made from Beurre de Baratte, Valhrona Chocolate and Demerara sugar - good ingredients all.

Put me down for thinking the "burger dog" looks delicious.

Looks like you had the trip of a lifetime KP. I'm jealous as hell, but glad a great bloke got such a cracking 40th birthday present (albeit from himself ;D). Can't wait to see pics.

And too much silicone in Pam Anderson's boobs is a problem why?

Ash

Will call you in the next week or so. Have just landed back in Oz

Jim N

I feel very fortunate to have seen what I did on the trip. I will provide more thoughts in due course.

Scott

Remember to see as many "great" works you can over there in GB&I - you wont get as good an opportunity as you have right now.

You ever feel that stuff, in the flesh?  (Not necessarily Pam's, but anyone's.)  Like rocks.

I've spent a few days getting over the jet-lag and my head is still spinning with all that I saw.

I wanted to say a BIG THANKYOU to all who helped in some way in making my dream become a reality. Whether it be advice on trip planning, accommodation, what to see etc.

Specifically - to Ed, Sir Bob, Mike R, Donnie B, Mayday, Wayne M, Rory C, Kevin R, Jim "brother" T, Gene G, Mark H, Neil R - thanks sincerely for the opportunities you provided.

To Mike Ben, Mike Bow, Steve P, Sean L, John M, Jason R, Mark C + those above who partnered me in my golfing travels - thanks for the golfing company and stories.

To guys "down under" like James, David, Andrew, Ash and Darius for assisting me along the way.

I didn't get to meet Tom H, Mike S, Matt W but appreciated your emails as well + all GCAers who gave advice or extended me opportunities in this thread.

The world is a big place but places like GCA make it so much smaller....

Cheers Ran

Kevin, it was a pleasure meeting you and sharing stories in the snow! We all look forward to your recounting of the tour on GCA with your thoughts and pictures.

You made it happen - a trip we all would like to do, the courses we would like to see. Congratulations!

Attached are some "clubhouse" views from some of the courses I visited.

I'll be interested who gets them all first....especially considering some knew my itinerary....

Yes - it's not that hard for my butt to take up a lot of the frame - but would you believe I lost weight on the trip with all the walking  ;)

BTW - when are you back down for a catch-up ?

David

Indeed - next time I'm down in Melbourne perhaps

KP,

If you go back into Photobucket, you might find you used he thumbnail links rather than the full image ones.

Kevin,
It is harder than I thought to identify the clubhouses. I only have about 12 of them.
