Links and Heath in Holland and Belgium
« on: May 10, 2002, 11:07:14 AM »
Here's link to Jeroen Pit's large archive of photos from the links and heath courses of Holland and Belgium.
Not all the best courses of this type are in GB&I !

www.nlnl.fsnet.co.uk

It has been posted before by Jeroen (in the old, currently unaccessible, archives),  but I thought it was worth revisiting.

The green complexes at Royal Zoute look especially interesting and the some of the holes at Haagsche look wild(14 and 15 look a bit like Durban to me).

Great stuff Paul (and Jeroen)

Makes me realize what a stupid I was when I worked for a summer 45 miles from De Panne and went to the beach rather than the golf course!  Was it the Belgian babes, perhaps?  Nah, that's an oxymoron.....

PS--is Jeroen's classic picture of the heather fairway on that link?

No it isn't there. It certainly was a classic GCA pic, I've never seen anything like it!

Here's a few of Jeroen's pics brought over from his sit to whet the appetite.

Royal Zoute looks to have plenty of swales and false fronts in its greens.  I've read that this could be a Top 100 World course.  The European Tour players loved it.

I think this is the GCA classic picture you were referring to:

That's the photo.  It's like a negative image!

Here are some of the greens at Zoute, it's often difficult to make out contour from photos but I can see the false fronts or swales to shrug off a misdirected shot.
