Recently built homage to Raynor in Long Island
«

Sorry guys, hate to take up space for this sort of thing, but I recall a course was built in the last couple of years that is supposed to be evocative of Raynor and is somewhere in the middle of Long Island, NY. Does that ring a bell for anyone?

I think you are referring to Stonebridge Golf Links & Country Club
I played it last year, and was disappointed. It is a redesign of a course on the site, I believe Hauppauge Country Club. He did not have much land to work with, so it was very tight.

Stonebridge is tight & short due to the fact that the original courses has had homes built on it thereby cutting down on the space available for the newly designed course. The new course is FUN to play because it has some of the most original and imaginative greens on Long Island. The second hole, uphill and long, hiting into a punchbowl green is one of the toughest Par Fours on the Island. The disappointment of the homes intruding on the course is outweighed by the immaginative design.I've played it 6 times & look forward to playing it again. Presently the greens fees are about $55 with cart on week days. Lance
