I haven't been over there (yet), but everything he references, good and bad, I have read from you guys here on gca.  It's easy to appreciate Woj's article after having spent hours and days reading about and listening to the many great experiences of those here in the treehouse.  Thanks for that!

Do you have to try the Haggis?

I'm sure Scotland is fantastic, but I get the feeling a lot of you guys just need to get more than an hour outside of any metropolitan region.

Nice article, but I have to take issue with ESPN Gene on food in Scotland.  I've made three golf trips from the U.S. to Scotland since 2002 and found the food at Scotland's restaurants, inns and B&Bs to be generally excellent.

On my trip to Scotland in '90 with two buddies, the high gross score by the time we got to Turnberry had to have haggis.  All of our caddies thought that wasn't a bet they'd mind losing.  Haggis with nips was considered "quite nice" by most.  I hurt my hand on the second day at Western Gailes (at least that's my excuse) and struggled mightily.  I thought the haggis was a bit salty, but not bad at all.  Passed on the turnips tho. . .

I think it was Billy Connolly who said that most Scottish food sounds as if it was made up as a dare: Haggis and Blood Pudding being two obvious examples.
