The San Francisco Public Golf Alliance Needs Your Help!
« on: July 13, 2009, 07:50:11 PM »
The San Francisco Public Golf Alliance has been formed by a group of concerned golfers. Their goal is to 1) make sure both Sharp Park and Lincoln Park golf courses remain as golf courses and 2) improve the golfing experience at both courses.

You can help by writing letters to public officials, going to public hearings and possibly even making a small donation to the cause. You do not have to be a resident of San Francisco to help this effort. Time is of the essence!

Here is a link to the organization's website:  www.sfpublicgolf.com

It's very easy to send an email to all the commissioners from the website.

Whether they will pay attention is a completely different issue.

David,

What about doing the equivalent of a petition like letter where everyone at GCA signs it.

We get the letter drafted and start mailing it to each other and sign it then forward it on etc.

The cost to each one who signs is an envelop and postage.

We gather up front a list of signees and mailing addresses and start down the list with each succession forwarding on.

Just a thought.

Patrick -

Since it looks like there is a vote happening on July 31, I don't think there is time to circulate a petition.

I would encourage those interested to write a letter or send an e-mail as advised on at www.sfpublicgolf.com

David T:

Thanks for posting this thread and sharing the link to the SF Public Alliance website.
I just sent them a quick e-mail, offering to help.

Hopefully the California Alliance for Golf (another golf advocacy group based in Calif.) will also join in to help preserve Sharp Park, as it should be...a golf course.

There is a petition movement and it would be very helpful if everyone signed it.  If you could pass it on it also would be helpful.

Done!

Only 727 signatures thus far.  Keep 'em coming.

Joel,

Thanks for sharing.

Its only been up for a few days so the response has been good.   I think 5,000 would be a good number.

Joel:

Smart idea to post the petition.

I too, will encourage others to add their signature to the list,
and hopefully they will tell their friends...and so on, and so on.

Thanks,

Emmy
