I had a great visit and tour of the course without clubs this past summer.  I'd like to jump in if a GCA Outing is organized.  It would give me a great opportunity to play and visit my folks on Smith Mountain Lake.

If something is set up for the Spring, I am sure the DC gang (Jerry and Chip and I and others) would be thrilled to attend.

Not sure if I'm part of any gang -- do you guys have signs and colors? -- but I'd love to attend as well.  Maybe some of us in the DC area could carpool.

Thanks for your kind offer.  As for a GCA outing, I'm also very interested, and the May weekend probably works better for me.

Wade,

Do you think it might help to post this activity under a new thread?  Thatn way people who don't look in on this thread will know about it.  Your call.  I don't see how it could hurt.  Maybe transfer a few of the latest photos and turn it into an invitation?

Either set of dates will work for me. Hopefully we pin down the date by the end of January. Thanks for the legwork.

Gents:

I'm working with Ballyhack to arrange a gathering on April 17 & 18.  Folks who can arrive in time to play on Friday, April 16 will be welcome; we'll even have lodging on Thursday night in case anyone cares to come that early.

I will be posting details shortly and will be providing an rsvp link.  Field will be limited to 20 players.  12 may stay on site.

For now, please block dates if you are interested.  More information will follow as we evolve specifics.

Thanks very much.

Wade/Lester,

I would be very much interested in attending, if you aren't full yet.   Tom Paul tells me the course is a hoot.

Thanks!

Mike,

I think we can work you in.  A "hoot"?  Not sure I have ever heard that one to describe one of my courses.

Lester,

I may not be quoting him exactly, but I do know he was impressed with your work there.   I'll try to get an "on the record" quote from him this weekend.

Thanks, and I'll look forward to seeing the course and everyone this spring.

The highlight of my golf year in 2009 was the round I played at Ballyhack in late August with Jeff Rendall of golfthemidatlantic.com. The course is visually stunning, the lines of play are intriguing and the greens are enormously challenging (or perhaps more accurately, enormous and challenging). I put a slide show of photos from my round together with some background music and have posted it on youtube for private viewing. If you're interested, let me know and I'll provide the link.

I'll see you both this weekend.  We'll get the quote together.  I was really kinda pulling your chain.

Mike,

Talk about slow on the uptake, I thought I was responding to the Philly gathering thread.  My bad.

Gents:

Schedule and terms are nearly set for the Ballyhack outing.  I intend to post registration information later in the weekend.  Check back often if you are interested, since interest seems to approach or surpass our twenty-player maximum.
