With Winged Foot East excluded, and no club having more than one hole on the list, it would appear that editorial review might have influenced or massaged the outcome.

A politically correct list ?

An attempt to look favorably upon as many cubs as possible ?

How would your list look ?  I'll try to put one together reflecting ONLY the Westchester courses I've played, and I'll reserve the right to amend my list if someone jogs my memory.

If a course is still on the drawing board it's not a golf course, it's just an idea or concept about a golf course that can be modified or changed a million times before it becomes a reality.   Pictures represent a visual perspective of a real golf course.

Pat- My list? I've only played 3 courses out of the 18.  i figured it was a politically correct list but wanted someone more familiar than me to say it.

I will say judging by the pictures, these pros like a lot of trees along both sides of the fairways.  I do know that par 5 #3 at Fenway beats par 5 #14 at Hudson National.

Some smooth mounds there, just perfect like a Sine curve: you could do trigonometry calculations with them.

One question cuz I em a bit confused.  Is the list from  different courses in that county?

Cuz #10 at Sunningdale is a 478yd par 5 and #16 St. Andrews is a par 4.

Ok I see best in the county.  Or are there courses there with original names and are the courses on the boards gonna have "original" names also or is that a future category for this vote?  ie: What's the best non-original course name?

Your point is well taken, but how much fun would it be to load up the list with holes from Winged Foot, Westchester or Quaker Ridge?

Am I biased?  Yes.

I like seeing one hole from the course I grew up on (Pelham).

I think it depends on the context in which the list was presented.

If the article indicated that they were publishing 18 interesting/challenging holes at Westchester courses, who could argue with that.  Or, if they indicated that only one hole per course would qualify, who could argue with that rule of the list.

But, it seemed to me, as it was presented by Corey, that something was amiss.

guys, if its one from "every course" then Fenway should be even more insulted, this is one fine golf course and the par 5 3rd is one of Tille's best 3 shotters.

I have not played a few of those holes but I'm puzzled by some of the choices including the 14th at Pelham (sorry Tim). It's two shots kept in play followed by a pitch over a drainage ditch to a very interesting very wide green with lots of hole locations. Good hole but one of the 4 best par 5's in Westchester? No-

The first 5 I have no problem at all with. If they were given 1 hole per course I might have selected the short par 4 3rd at Century CC.  It has an amazing green complex like a fortress. #18 at Knollwood is I think a better hole then 18 at WFW.

16 at Sleepy is their "signature hole" and very photogenic but the Raynor short at Blind Brook is better if thats the hole they were looking for on their list (I doubt that was the motivation).

Multiple holes from Fenway (as Brad said) and Winged Foot East (as Pat mentioned) could certainly make any "best of" list. Whippoorwill has some really good holes as well (#5 comes immediately to mind).

I don't think this was a serious exercise by the magazine to find the best 18 holes as much as it was to find an article that would grab their readers to open the cover.  It probably did that quite well.

I'm quite certain that Trump National will be "the best course of its kind" in Westchester County to open in 2002
