Two glorious sunny (and rather windy) days in Kent, an evening round at Deal and then 36 holes at Sandwich.
Is it just me or is Sandwich a tad overrated? Lovely experience with all the history etc, and no denying that it is a pretty damn good course, but Deal was far more interesting and I thought simply a purer course (if that makes sense). Strange how the two courses vary in scale - from a distance, Deal looks the flatter and less interesting, but when you actually get down to the stroke playing level the undualtions around Deal are some of the wilder i have ever seen. Some of those green are amazing - almost every approach shot was totally unforgiving - hit it perfectly or find yourself in some ditch or other.
