Boy I sure feel sorry for everyone that usually raises their prices 4000% this week.

I was at both this year's and last year's Monday practice round.  Last year on Washington Road, there were 10 "Need Tickets" for every "Tickets Available" sign.  This year, the exact opposite, plenty of sellers, fewer buyers.

Do ANGC buy a few tickets on line then kick out the patrons for selling them on? It seems if your on the list you can make $2000+ every year just outing your tickets and never going.

The MCC do this at Lords, a member who purchases tickets to sell them on the black market risks expulsion from the club or other penalties on future ticket purchases....and quite rightly so.

This has to be the most ridicilous article in the world.

An article about people who are bitching and moaning because this year prices are only massively overpriced, instead of insanely overpriced like years past.  Yeah I'm supposed to feel bad even though they are still getting several times more than face value.  GMAFB!!!

It's never good kharma to make light about others' misfortunes. Augusta isn't the wealthiest community in the world, many of the people affected are the same that the enlightened profess to want to help. The less $$$ they have, the less they have to spend, the more others hurt as well. You do the math.

Unintended consequences...

It is simply supply and demand and I see nothing wrong with it. My only concern has always been that I would get a fake ticket so I have never bought any.

Things are worth what someone is willing to pay. Without higher demand the prices would not climb... just as now they are falling with lower demand.

I don't fault individuals for charging the highest price they can get for an item... good for them. It's the people who spend that much money to see a sporting event that makes me scratch my head. Without them the prices could not go up.

Michael,

Thats all fine and good, I completely agree with that.

What I don't get is the whining, moaning, complaining, etc when instead of being able to get 20x over what you paid for it, you can now only get 10x.  Who else lives in this kind of fantasy land?

I will be there Friday, presumably with a ticket.  That said, how are the badges scalped for daily use?  I have heard that one is required to leave a credit card and driver's license with the seller and receives those back at the end of the day when the badge is returned.

True?

Even in the good times, if you were willing to show up near the gates you could score one or two tickets for a much lower price than the brokers charge. I imagine this strategy will work pretty well Thursday and Friday this week.

Kalen,
I read the article.
Where exactly was the bitching ,whining, and moaning?
I saw a few comments stating the facts and some commentary by the reporter.
