I am not sure if this has been posted before but it is the first time I have seen it.

I sure do like Kenny Perry.

Thanks, Bob, first time for me too.  Wonderful story; I wonder what D.J. is doing now.

Vow,  Sir Huntley!  You sure know how to put things back into proper perspective.  D.J. is the man for these times.  Strong will, spirit, courage, grace, perseverance.  I didn't notice the smallest bit of self-pity.

BTW, KP is one of my favorites.  Some day I am going to pay him a visit at his daily-fee course in KY.

Bob,
Thanks for sharing. I have worked with two neonatologists over the years with CP and it is amazing to think of the obstacles they have overcome to do what they do. It provides a good perspective for those of us who take mobility for granted.

Ed,,

I remember you telling me stories of the young children with whom you worked at UCSF Hospital over the years, it touched me deeply. I think you and your co-horts should all be given a medal.

Best wishes.

Bob

KP certainly seems like one of the good, genuine guys on tour. I really had a hard time with the press raking him over the coals last year for skipping the Open.

Thanks, Bob. Wonderful.

I'm going to forward it to my daughter's golf coach.

Quivering lips indeed needed.

And yes, thanks Bob. First time I've seen that.  I have a brother with CP (among other things)... perhaps quivering lips aren't enough for me.

Kentucky people are good people - no surprise Perry reacted as he did.  But there are lots of other good guys in that story too.

The young man certainly has a great head on his shoulders and he has a passion for golf!  Wouldn't it be great to get his viewpoints as a contributor on here?  Kuddos to his parents who have to be very very proud.

Thank you for this Bob. I remember seeing DJ's story a couple of times last year during golf coverage but hadn't seen the final outcome. A compelling human drama.

A lot of people with big hearts in this story (and on this site as well).

Kentucky people are good people

Perhaps your finest observation yet.   ;D

Kenny Perry's action is just what I would expect from him.  I am not surprised by the way Kenny and others reacted to DJ - most of us are far better & more understanding anytime we deal with people as individuals.  Something like what DJ did makes it much easier to appreciate our own good fortune.

Thanks, Bob, for posting this.

Lou,
Kenny's course is nothing special architecturally, but it's got a few good holes and is pretty fun to play.  You might see guys out there in overalls, but like us they too love the game.  I believe that's why KP built the course in the first place.

Last time I was there it was just a little over $30 (riding) on a weekend, although you could certainly walk if you wanted.

You better let me know if you ever end up in Franklin, KY.

John - it is very sincere.  My inlaws grew up in Russellville and based on them... and my visits there... I am proud of my by marriage relation to Kentucky people... even though they view me as a weirdo Californian.

Dan,

You sent me the link long ago, right? Didn't you already have it as WSOTD once?

It is very good, and would be worthy of a second go 'round, if so.

Nope. I'd never seen it till Bob posted it here.

BTW: Kentucky Kenny is tearing it up today at Doral. 7-under through 11 (starting on 10).
