How about a get together next week at the GCSAA Conference in New Orleans?

I'm thinking Thursday evening in the Quarter?

How about meeting on Wednesday evening for a 6:00 dinner at Desire Oyster Bar and Bristo at 300 Bourbon Street ? They used to have great crayfish there back in the day. What do you think of that Mark?

I would be up for that---I'm in town just Tuesday and Wednesday nights, so Wednesday would be great for me if we could make it happen.

You didn't know there was a conference in town?  Hell, I didn't even know it was basketball season!

Mike,

Do you mean "Shooter", of Nuzzo Golf Course Design?!

That "Shooter"  ;)

P.S. Fortunately, I'm happy to say I won't be in New Orleans because I'm actually working on a project that's under construction, in February 2009.

Sorry Scott, touchy subject I'm sure ;D

Can't say I have heard of the Desire Oyster Bar, but I am not much of a seafood person. I got the weeks wrong so next week we have basketball games on Monday vs Portland and Thursday vs Da Bulls. If anyone wants to go just let me know.

Dickie Brennans is the best place in town for steak, there is a really good fish house called G.W. Fins in the quarter, and there is Arnauds which is a famous N.O resturant as well. I can get reservations set up at Arnauds or Brennans for however many you need, just let me know. Working at the Superdome does have a few advantages in this town.

Look forward to meeting all of you.

The Desire Oyster Bar is in the Royal Sonesta on Royal if I'm not mistaken.  The Acme on Iberville is a bit more working class.  Right down the street from the Royal Sonesta is my favorite bar in New Orleans, the Touche on Royal.  It's worth a visit, lots of locals hang out in there.

I am interested, but am not quite sure what my plans are yet as I will be down there with the UW Turf Club, and have some obligations with the club.  Hope to meet some of you down there.

All the days seem jam-packed. Wednesday would be fun, but I may arrive later rather than earlier. Please advise on the venue. By the time I get there I may be in the mood to buy a round.

There's nothing I would enjoy more. But alas, GCSAA decided my talents were superfluous and eliminated my job.

So I won't be making the trip.

I suggest a breakfast meeting at Mother's.

Forrest,

On Saturday I'll post the venue here.

For now we are scheduled to meet somewhere in the Quarter on Wednesday evening beginning at 6:00.

I rarely post so none of you know me.  However, I will be attending the show and was wondering if this is an open invitation to meet some other GCA members?

It turns out that Desire is a pretty good place to meet. They have a nice spread there, and not too steeply priced.
