Please Welcome New Member Paul O'Connor
« on: January 06, 2009, 02:10:44 PM »
Please join me in welcoming our newest brother Paul O'Connor. A little bit about him. Paul was a stellar caddie as a child in the Chicago area. He won the Evan's Scholarship to the Univ. of IL. He is an avid player sporting a 5 hndcp.  His favorite courses are Merion and The Jans. It is reported that he has played more than 100 competitive rounds on The Jans. At one time he held the course record(or so he claims) ;D. His heroes are John Wayne and Tommy Paul. Both great Americans. Welcome Paul!           Jack

  Welcome Paul,

It is the end of your present life as you know it. By the end of 2009 you may be broke and divorced and living in a van down by the river. So live it up. And do not be bothered by the Euro mates too much. They fued with each other all the time.

  All the best,

  Anthony

Paul

Welcome.  8)

So you have played golf over there but not yet over here, if that’s true you have not yet lived and are in for a real great most enjoyable surprise when you travel to this little group of Island just off the war torn European coast.

We have everything real golfers need, but you will have to walk and at times think for yourself, sorry I have come to realise that can be difficult for certain members of GCA.com

If you are still reading this then you have passed your initiation test and qualify as a member. Have fun and get stuck in. ;)

Thanks for the great welcome.

Dave Miller - I learned more about golf course architecture by spending two days with you, Wayne, and TEP in Philly than in the rest of my life.  Great trip.

Melvyn - I have played in GBI several times - Went on a trip to Ireland two years ago to play for a week in torrential downpours and gale force winds.  We discovered the differences between drenched, soaking wet, and immersed.  Lovely!

Mike - I have never played a single loop on the Reverse Jans -  course is too intimidating.

Terry Govern is going to be angry when it is reported to him that someone else is claiming the course record at the Jans.  As I recall some really good player (Jim McGovern or Tim Herron maybe?) shot some ridiculously low number in one of the Ev-Wil Opens when they played lift, clean and cheat, and Terry claims to have the "real conditions" record. . .
