I'm constantly doing research on Vernon Macan. Overlake's been on my list. Can you drop me note at jeff@mingaygolf.com. I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Pete, you are responsible for one of the most perfectly presented golfing grounds I have ever had the privilege to play (Lester George's layout is pretty good, too!).  My day there (Tom McCandlish hosted a wedding group) will be long remembered.

You need to post more!

Interesting note.  Mat Dunmyer and I are located about 4,000 miles apart.  But, we both worked as assistant superintendents at the same golf course in Northern California.  Not at the same time though.  Also, I spent a weekend afternoon helping him repair a fence in his backyard.  Still waiting for repayment.... ;D

I have a cold 6 pack of Newcastle in the fridge whenever you are ready......... ;)

I hope you are doing well and enjoying where you are at- it's been a while since you sent me any pictures!!!

Mat-I have a better idea.  It's sunny, low humidity and about 80 degrees here.  The beach sand is pure white and the Caribbean Sea clear and warm.  How about you bring the six pack down here this winter?  We have a decent surfing point you can see from our 17th green.

Will send photos soon!

Bryan,
I looked at your website with pics of the renovation work that was done at Westmoor. I saw the pic of your shaper, Ron. Ron actually shaped the back nine bunkers and surounds at Colonial this summer, prior to leaving for your place.

Tony

Ron had told me about his work at your club.  He's built one heck of a resume.  His work at Westmoor was unreal.  We've had a few different shapers push things around Westmoor over the years.  They were all really good.  But Ron has an eye and feel that I don't think the others possessed.  Watching him carve and stomp out a bunker was really interesting.
I was fortunate enough to take lots of photos of his work.  I also took a lot of HD video of him making the designs a reality. I'm in the process of making a video documentary and photo book of all the work around the course.

I just talked with him yesterday and he is well.  He's getting ready for some pretty big projects.
