Pete Dye's best par fives

I like
4 at Meadows Valley (that bunker in front of the green is one of the most difficult bunkers Dye made.)
I like 16 at the River course, 1 is pretty close though.
2 at the Ocean Course (I liked 16 as well, but it reminds me of 16 at Meadows)
16 at Harbour Town
5 and 16 at PGA West (too close to call.)
5 at Pete Dye GC.

This obviously stems from the other thread, where so many of the great ones were Dye holes.

Ben,,,,,,,,the 3rd at Firethorn has  a neat green complex
but the naturally routed 11th is even better.I also love the
2nd at Kiawah.However,the finest ensemble of par fives by Pete are at The Golf Club. Number 7 flows for 530 yards
over lovely rolling terrain. 14 at New Albany is over 600 and
requires thought, especially on the 2nd and 3rd shots.
I also find  Blackwolf River 11 quite  compelling.
In my opinion, William Langford  was masterful at creating
engaging par fives.
In this regard, the par fives at Wakonda and Lawsonia are
worthy of careful study.Thanks, Mark Chalfant.

Shivas - I thought I remembered the 18th MV was a par 4.

Par 5 for the ladies?

As for the fourth on MV, How about that bunker off the tee? It so big and causes not only the ability to strategize but the demand on execution is high.

I don't know who's played there alot, but the whole place is awesome. and it always seems that the more one plays, the more one appreciates.

I love #8 at Colleton.  From a well executed tee shot, the second landing area provides a wide bail-out area to the left (looks inviting), with bunkering and blindness guarding the right side approach into the green (it also prevents the long player at going for the green in two).

After hitting your approach into the wide area, up and down for birdie is almost impossible.

The reality is the best approach into the green is from the right (it is not blind afterall!), with the green pitching away from approaches from the left.

Dye at his best.

Plus this golf hole is also a movie star.

I've always admired the "strength" of the par 5s at TPC Sawgrass. Particularly the 9th and 11th.
