Surprised it hasn't been mentioned already. The second picture is from the 2nd hole at Digby Pines, Nova Scotia

Thompson golf holes were created to look as if they had always been there and were always meant to be there.

With absolutely all due respect, and I have seen some of your other thoughtful posts on here, but are you serious?  That holes stands for pretty much everything gone wrong.  Environmentally, strategically, economically, speed of play, etc etc etc...

The 15th at Stonehaven , from the tee , across the gully , to the punchbowl green can be a real tester when trying to get a good score home .

Also the site of my solitary hole in one  :)

Only about 40% serious.  Pawleys Plantation is my home course in the summer, so the hole has sentimental value to me on top of its decidedly arguable architectural merit.  Here's the deal: I don't really object to the idea of a hole that tosses strategy and paralysis-by-analysis out the window and instead challenges the golfer to simply execute a shot, or else.  I know there's no ground game and I know a lot of people on here seem to think that water hazards are the devil.  I don't object to their use, as long as they are used fairly, which I'd say they are on 13, as long as players play the correct set of tees (145, 115, 69, or 40 yards).  So I would argue that it is a good hole in its context.

But upon further thought, my favorite par three that I have a picture of is #8 at The Greenbrier (Old White):

MPCC Dunes #10.  Simplicity and Beauty. with a breeze.  Actually, I have just realised when posting this that it is similar to another of my favourites - Royal Adelaide #12, although that is another 50 yards longer.  Similar green, bunkering, and wind but an abscence of sea view at RA.  I don't know how much influence Mackenzie had on #12 at RA, but I believe he was involved at MPCC Dunes #10 = the original version at least.

Guys, thanks for all the pics!

I must admit I enjoy these threads because I get to see phenomenal photos of courses I haven't gotten to yet and there's 10" of snow outside my window!!  Keep 'em comin'!

That would be a cool way to play it.  Tee off from 18 tee and play back 16 green.  ;)

Your life must be just terrible  ;).

Just so you know, at your old stomping grounds in Linville, it is 20 degrees with a good 4 inches of snow on the ground.
