Re: Will Any High Profile Courses Go Bust in This Downturn??

Winchester CC, Morgan Creek CC and Nakoma Resort(Dragon) are pretty high profile in NoCal and are in financial trouble.

Tim.....Sacramento Golf may be in more hurt than alot of other areas I've heard of if this recession lasts too long.

Don't forget about lesser profile coureses:

....Wild Wings is closing it's doors Jan 1, 2009.....superintendent and assistant are staying on to mow and fertilize, that's it until surrounding homeowners decide if they want to "bail it out"

....Auburn Valley Country Club, even after switching to public from private (similar to Winchester), is still struggling

....Darkhorse, though seeming to hang in there despite long financial struggles, is still not in the clear

Given some of the stories I've heard around the area from other courses not yet in trouble, but taking on HUGE cutbacks, I've got count my lucky stars that we seem to have a pretty unique hold on an isolated market here in Folsom. Seems people need to golf just to try and escape all those recession worries out here.......and I'm glad to see em here!

Any NoCal GCA'ers know about the current status of Trinitas south of Sacramento? Emmy are you out there? I haven't seen or heard anything about that golf course since I visited it two years ago when it was still trying to get members and was not yet grown in. It is hard to imagine that it is not struggling to stay afloat.
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

Looks like The Falls course at Lake Las Vegas is about to go.

Also, I can not imagine how that new Coyote Springs course North of Vegas that was on most of the recent ranking lists will make it unless the developer has real patience(depth).
