Autumn makes every Course look good

Even my crummy homecourse. Here's the fifth green (short par 4) and the second shot to the par 5 12th. Feel free to post your best autumn shots.

Can you say tree encroachment??? Seriously though, autumn is the BEST time for golf. Courses are F & F, and the surrounds are beautiful. I am thoroughly enjoying fall golf in Central NY right now.

I wish I had a picture of Prairie Dunes this past week, it was just stunning. Best I have ever seen it. If it isnt a 10 on the scale, then the scale is broke the same way it is when I get on one...........

Seems to me that this is a perfect opportunity to extend the green in the back, ditch the bunkers and have a beautiful high in the middle-low on the ends green.

Would you take out both bunkers or only the back bunker? I could see repositioning the front bunker to create a reverse redan effect. Of course, this would require short grass to the left of the green

Yes, I probably would take out both bunkers and utilize the water better as the main hazard feature. As it is now, the hole is neither here nor there and it seems a shame to waste a good hazard by plopping in a saving bunker.

That is a wild looking hole! Its a pity there isn't more room to miss right as that recovery looks to be a doozy!

Other than the standard reply ex-pats give of missing their family, I do believe the fall is the thing I miss most about the States. Its a glorious feeling to have soft sunlight as a blanket and a visual feast on the horizon. Plus, it all ends with greatest holiday on earth, Thanksgiving.

Those great photos you posted of Arrowtown Golf Club, in New Zealand. Is that Autumn 2008 (i.e. April or thereabouts?)

Sean & John,

The one thing I like about #9 @ Crumpin Fox (the par 3 you are disecting) is the exacting nature of the tee shot, the small size of the green but the myriad of recovery options depending upon where you miss. That front bunker is much deeper than you think. From the right side of that bunker , you can not a middle / left pin.

Wouldn't chgange it at all.

Yes they are photos taken in April this year. I had the pleasure of meeting up with Ash Towe and we spent a fantastic Autumn morning playing this wonderful course.
