Best Tree on a course

Most on this site bark expletives when a tree is mentioned on a golf course, but there are some that through the years have earned their entitlement.

Some are famous like the Eisenhower Tree at Augusta, or the giant (oak?) at Sunningdale (not in play), but which is the one you are most fond of and over the years has it changed?

Sadly, one of the best trees in all of golf, near the 11th green at Huntingdon Valley has fallen.  What a strategic tree that was.  There are some nearby trees that help, but that one will be sorely missed.   :-\

I have always thought this old tree at Cook's Creek (near Cols, OH) is cool. It looks like it had been extremely damaged in a storm and they actually patched the huge trunk with a lot of CONCRETE inside to keep it upright. I can't remember, but I believe it is a huge Sycamore (maybe?) tree.

I wish I had a before and after of the monster oak tree that used to stand about 20 yards short and left of the 7th green at Perry Golf & CC, the local 9 hole back where I am from in Iowa...

The hole is only about 315 yards, wide fairway...mostly blind tee shot over a little ridge...out of bounds (property line) close right.  You could see the tree looming from the tee and the far right side of the fairway was the only place for a safe line to the green.  Anywhere else and it was hit it high or punch.

Anyhow, the tree came down in a storm in 2007...Unfortunately I only got a camera after it fell.  Here it is afterwards, quite featureless.   The tree would be by the yellow signs ahead of the guy on the left.

The lone tree in the middle of the front nine at Oakmont is neat.I wonder why it got to stay when everything else was removed.

Now there are 3, only one of which has awesomeness, but I guess the other two are in preparation for the first's demise.

Seriously though, this one at the left side of the first hole at Hornbill Golf & Jungle Club course we designed in Sarawak, Borneo is a pretty nice specimen. The boulders are fairly sizeable too.

The tree in the middle of the 12th at Stanford is still there. It absolutely has to be one of the most influential trees in all of golf. It truly makes that hole a brut. I have played that hole at least twenty times and still have no idea what I am going to do each time I am on the tee.

#15 maybe. After this hole, Cook's Creek becomes fairly vanilla as I remember.

The Cypress located on the 14th at CPC...probably one of the most beautiful and expansive trees on any course.

This is about the only one you see at Sankaty Head. This one's to the right of the 15th fairway.

I like the mesquite tree perched on a mound on the 16th hole at Desert Forest.  In the photo below is appears to be at the corner of the dogleg left but in reality is dead center fairway and must be negotiated on the second shot.



Great hole off the tee given the visible ridge that runs from 10 to 4 o'clock in the landing area.
