The World's Lumpiest Hole
« on: July 07, 2002, 06:29:43 PM »
My vote might go for this hole:

Any guesses as to which course it is?

Great photo.

Also see the 460 yard par 5 16th at Highlands Links, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia as a candidate for "the world's 'lumpiest' hole."

Where that photo, Ben?

I thought it was the Sea of Tranquility Golf Resort until I saw Michael Collins in that foursome.  And everybody knows he was the sorry lad that had to orbit while Shepherd and Buzz were shirking duties out on the course. Wrong hats too.

I don't know... Red Mike? Talking Stick? Orlando CC?

The first looks a bit like the 18th at Moray in Scotland ???

Theres a famous picture of the old course taken from the new course clubhouse at sunset that shows off the "bumpiness" of the course and it matches anything I have seen in these photos. The old girl certainly has some moves in her.

The putting course at St Andrews would probably win the most moves on a putting green, although theres a green at Dooks in Ireland that goes right off the funkiness scale.

No "poofs" there, huh?

How many times do I have to tell you, you don't know what a "poof" is? That's not the clearest photo in the world but it looks like there's at least one very subtle "poof" and maybe two or three right around that guy putting! And that color photo! Oh my God, there are some really great natural fairway "poofs" particularly in the foreground. Of course none of them are "Maxwell Poofs" but a "poof" is a "poof".

"indeed I do not think I have ever seen a course on which the contour of the hills and valleys was so infinitely picturesque."

With nowhere near the randomness of the bumps, Pete Dye's county club of the desert has fairways with humpy syndrome. His Stadium course ain't to level either.

Well, you all failed!  The Treehouse is slipping  ;)

It's Wallasey which is very close to Hoylake (Liverpool).

The course looks to have some really wild holes (I'll post some more pics) but also unfortunately about 5 dullish inland ones that suffer by compariosn.  These dullish holes are broken up into two groups half way round, so I think it's easier to forgive.
