One round in Philly so lets hear the recommendations!
« on: June 30, 2008, 09:17:17 PM »
I'll be flying in Philly around noon and would like to hear some recommendations on where to play in the afternoon.  I have private contacts so feel free for those recommendations also.  I've played Merion, Aronimink, and Rolling Green so I would like to see another course in the area.  If someone is interested in playing the afternoon of July 22 I would love to have some company.

Only Ran and I have played it. The rest of the Philly guys talk a good game but......

Join the club!  :D

PS. My real advice is go to da Shore and play Hidden Creek, Atlantic City or Galloway.

I beg to differ Mr. Sweeney. Walnut Lane was my home course during law school. Unfortunately, I've heard rumors that D'Allesandro's is under new ownership and that the cheese steak quality has slipped. I need a return visit. ;D

If the shore is not possible, I suggest LuLu or Lederach.

I do have some interest in Hidden Creek.  I played Atlantic last trip up so I would like to see something different.  How far of a drive is the shore from the airport then back to PV.

You could do a lot worse than Lederach.  In fact, I highly recommend the place.  Its a real eye opener on proper placement and use of bunkers.

The two privates which would really interest me are Manny's and Huntington Valley.

If you get a chance play Huntingdon Valley. Probably the finest set up of firm and fast conditions I have ever played! Great classic Flynn architecture to boot.

Also consider Gulph Mills and Whitemarsh.

Glen Mills is close to the airport and an interesting experience.

Clearly if you have been reading this site for long you would have decided you would most benefit from playing Cobbs Creek with the highly entertaining Mike Cirba.
