Another case for the Half Green Biaritz (Fox Chapel)
« on: June 22, 2008, 12:34:28 AM »
Bored and going through the PennPilot Historic Aerials and low and behold Fox Chapels Biaritz was not all green in 1938. Just an interesting tidbit I thought I would share. Kind of makes you wonder what year these were all converted to 100% Green. Or at least how and why they all eventually ended up that way.

Ryan:

It is very hard to tell if the front section of Fox Chapel's #17 was once greenspace. In any case, the club put it into green space fairly recently---within the last 4-7 years.

Personally, I'd love to see them also restore the bunkers on the front section. The reason they were obsoleted may've just had to do with access and egress. I think an effective way to compromise with that would be to simply have a grass walkway on either side at the mid-green swale.

I'd also recommend they restore the front bunker in the middle.
