The Sweet Sixteen, GCA-style, which school has the home course to make them the National Champion.

Is UCLA the favorite?

Funny, Villanova's web site (from '06-'07) says they play out of Overbrook GC and French Creek.  I guess they moved?

Texas has U. of Texas GC (the one that had the recent clubhouse fire).

If Bobby Knight hadn't resigned, who knows maybe Texas Tech would still be in.  I suspect it'd be very competitive in this 16 school bracket....

West Virginia's home course is probably Lakeview GC.  Not too great but it does have a 600 yard par 5 finisher -- straight up hill all the way.   :o :o

Forest Akers (West) at MSU is not a bad course.  An Arthur Hills re-do.  Some decent elevation change.  Very challenging areas around the greens (not shaved chipping areas, just tough rough + fast greens).  Uninspiring collection of par 3's, good collection of par 4's (2 downhill swingers that encourage cutting corners (1 and the old #10), and a good collection of par 5's.. 3 reachable (1 easily, 2 moderately) and 1 unreachable, uphill all the way.  Good variation of tight and open tee shots.
It'd be a stretch to make it into the elite 8 with this group.  We're not of Stanford's caliber, but it's a good compliment for local alumni or students who wish to play a competitive course.

I'm afraid Kansas doesn't stack up all that well in this list. But there aren't all that many who think Alvamar CC is the best course in town.

Most prefer Alvamar Public and a few might pick Lawrence CC.

I'm not certain ... but I think the Overbrook membership comes with the VU head coaching job. Must be a heck of a bar to visit for the coach if you're losing! I do know that Aronimink was the VU golf team's home course for years (in the 80s).

UT's home course is probably either Holston Hills or Cherokee.  The former could make for an interesting final four matchup with 'Nova.

Ughh!

The State of Wisconsin's great land-grant university may be physically located in Madison, and it does run a golf course, but that doesn't mean we should honor such a listing with such a mediocre course as nearby URidge.

Given that, in the Wisconsin tradition of sifting and winnowing, the nomination should be a public course, I submit the sublime and golden-age Langford-Moreau course a short hike north of the UW Madison campus.

If Tennessee plays at Holston Hills, then they have to get the edge over my Cardinals.  Fortunately, the basketball games won't turn out the same way.

Villanova has always used Aronimink.  They do also use Overbrook at times.   I think one of the rules of Overbrook is you have to be a Nova grad so that's why they do use Overbrook.  Although I joined Aronimink.  Jay Wright is a member of Overbrook as are others in the VU Administration.
