Just a dirt worker...come on...if you got a nickle for every time someone spit out their drink at your doing you'd be able to watch people dig in the dirt...

I think I know, but it was hard enough that I had to do a little research.

This was a fun challenge; to keep it going and to make it more fun, let me ask -- is there a clubhouse in the picture, or just outside the frame of that satellite image?
 ;)

I don't think there is any remaining clubhouse.

Hint. It has a royal location that you hope won't go down the toilet.

The course barely survived the Depression and WWII.  The clubhouse is a memory. Garland, I think the course was located to the right of your photo.

I put the location I found on the web in the center of the google earth shot. I realize this could be simply the edge of the course, which would mean the course could extend off one of the edges of the shot. The web said it was replaced by housing. It would appear that the buildings on the right edge are condos. The location given put it in the middle of the houses shown. Therefore, I suspect it is not further right in the shot.

Sorry. None of the Royal Kohler clubs have hosted an open. ;)

Besides, this is an east coast course.

Another hint.

I suppose a squire being highly involved would add to the royalty of the open and its location.

Garland,
Since you've obvioulsly gone into the toilet, do you think Irish Spring soap scent would be helpful?

I just sent you an IM. The extreme western part of the course would have  been visible on the right edge of the photo you posted.

Is it in the windy city, and would it still have existed in any of the GCA.com community's lifetime, that they might have played there?
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

I don't know, but that is what I hang from my camellias to keep the deer from eating them.

No Dick,

As I wrote above, it is on the east coast.

The course was redeveloped about the time I was born. So it certainly would have still existed during the lifetime of our older members. Certainly some of them would have been old enough to play golf there before the redevelopment.

It seems that the jpg that google earth created encompassed less area than I was looking at when I made it. According to Craig's information the western edge of the course would be in the very right of the picture.

Adding another USOpen site to this thread. The landmarks should be somewhat familiar to anyone who's traveled on the east coast.

Craig ... I believe that is Englewood (NJ), on 95 on the approach to the GW bridge.  I believe it was about 20 years ago that the condos which appear to the top of the pic were built.

Cliff,
Exactly so. I95 cuts right through the middle of what was Englewood CC, site of the 1909 US Open.
