Ridgewood CC?
« on: January 23, 2008, 05:11:55 AM »
Not sure if this topic has come up yet. I saw the recent article in Golf World about the PGA Tour giving Westchester the boot in favor of Ridgewood.

How is Ridgewood? How will it hold up to the big boys?

The last time a professional event was held there they used a hybrid course of the 27 holes.  The course has the ability to hold its own.  Decent length and great greens make for a very good test.

Tim -

There have been a couple of threads about Ridgewood here over the past week or two. If you scroll down & back thru a page or two or three, you should be able to find them.

The course will hold up just fine for the tour players.  It is a very solid golf course and with a proper setup it'll be a great test.  Another plus is that a large majority of the players more than likely have not played there before.

One of my best friends is a past Club Champ at Ridgewood as well, so I've played it plenty of times.

It'll be interesting to see what nines or routing that they choose to use.

Should the event actually go to Ridgewood, I'm told the routing will be ...

1-4 E, 6C, 3-5C, 5-7E, 2C, 4-9W.

2 and 4 Center will be par fours, making it a par 71 at 7,304.

You do have a 3 to 2 lead.

Is Ridgewood the course visible from the Garden State tollroad? We were at a wedding last weekend and stayed at a Hilton in Woodland or Woodlake Hills. Driving back to LaGuardia via the GW bridge,I noticed a course . Extremely wooded area, just west of road. Ridgewood?

Ridgewood is only visible from Rt. 17.  You may have seen Arcola CC which is only a few miles away.

Andrew & Greg,

Don't winners, especially multiple winners of the Painted Woods count ? ;D
