Thanks for sharing Michael, reminds me why I play the game!

Here's a very specific request that I've asked for before and gotten exactly zero responses to: the 2nd green at Pine Valley. I've heard so much about it and have never seen any photo's of the green itself, just the tee shot and approach.

Just an itch I need to scratch!  ;D

Michael,

Awesome pictures, thanks. What hole is this? (I am guessing Metediconk in New Jersey.)

shivas - you get your ass out here in April and you'll see more of those asses than you could ever wish for.

But given I aim to please... well here's me and Huntley anyway, with two other interlopers.  Sorry we couldn't turn around for you.   ;)

Any chance of putting some names to those photographs without a description?  I'm guessing course names and would like to know if I'm correct ;D
2014 to date: not actually played anywhere yet!
Still to come: Hollins Hall; Ripon City; Shipley; Perranporth; St Enodoc

The absolute spitting image of Ian Poulter. He was subject to a disciplinary hearing on the tour for wearing an Arsenal shirt on the course. I trust you were severely reprimanded.

Ed:

Never has a picture warmed my heart more than that one.  Oh I loved it when the great man did that... but thanks for the reminder of why I do love Ian Poulter so.  And oh yes, Mr. Huntley was NOT amused by my shirt, Chelsea man that he is.

I have worn that exact same jersey Poulter has on to play golf.  Of course I own one.  As you see, it has a collar, it works.

 ;D ;D ;D

BTW we need to destroy Fulham tomorrow.  After last week's pathetic home draw, we need to get back on track.  We're missing quite a few players though so it's worry time at Arsenal.

OK, how's that for a horrid sidetrack from an otherwise great thread?  I feel ashamed and dirty.  But man I loved that picture!

What does it matter if the poor player can putt all the way from tee to green, provided that he has to zigzag so frequently that he takes six or seven putts to reach it?     --Alistair Mackenzie--

Some great pics.  Thanks Michael for cluing me in on some of the courses.

It was great to see the link to golfarchitecturepictures.com.   Been trying to decide on Scotland or Ireland for a trip in August & the pics of Cruden Bay have probably made up my mind.

Michael,

Great stuff.

One correction - between Fancourt and Riviera is the Moonah Course at the National, not Moonah Links.

Hmmmmmmm wise and astute aren't exactly the adjectives I'd use when it comes to Mr Poulter!! If and when he ventures into golf course design I wonder if he will do wild and wacky stuff?

I also speak as a Chelsea season ticket holder of over 25 years, hence my dislike of Arsenal!

Tom Bikert, meet Bob Huntley (former member of Chelsea juniors).

I bow to each of you.  My interest in English football covers a LOT less years than either of you.

And I have a feeling your club is just about ready to reassume it's role at the top, as much as that kills me to say....

I also am not exactly comfortable with Poulter as our man of wisdom, but on the other hand, if I had to pick a golfer to be a FAN of my club, than by God I am happy with crazy young Ian!  I can see him doing the songs and chants and buying a round at the pub and I dare say I can't think of many other golfers I'd say that about.  Monty must be a ManU fan.

 ;D ;D

It's all good stuff. I respect the dislike.  Here's hoping we stay ahead of you and that dislike only grows.

TH

Wow, that’s the 9th green at RCD and I feel it looks better than it now!

When was this taken? It looks late 50's/early 60's by the buildings.

What is confuses me is the smaller practice putting green is claimed to be the original pre-colt 9th green but it is not in this picture!

Michael,

I recognize a couple of those, intimately.  Sorry for the date stamps.   ;)

Another was my fave of Neil Regan's long lost (and missed) pics that I've had on my (now old) home PC's desktop for years now.

-Attempt to clarify the conceptual confusion of terminalogy...little agreement.
-use specific pictures to illustrate specific points in a defined context.
-separate the quality of golf design from the picture postcard

I guess I am looking at this like an academic course

My friend and I were talking recently about the price of things continuing to skyrocket.  He believes that the golf industry is being hurt by the cost of living going up, however, from visiting courses around my area, it seems like more and more people are playing golf.  Every course I go to this time of year is very full and it seems like more and more courses are being built.  Does anyone out there in the industry know if golf is really suffering or not?
