We are anxious to play the old Desert course, which is now the named the Champions course.  Brad's comments in Golfweek seemed pretty favorable.

I was very surprised to hear they are hosting the first stage of Q School this week, prior to the course formally opening.  Did they have a last minute course cancel?  Doesn't this seem ultra risky to host an event of this importance prior to course actually opening?

They did in fact have a last-minute cancel--Carlton Oaks in southern California was the original host course but it was moved to Scottsdale because of the fires which affected air quality at Carlton Oaks and elsewhere in SoCal.

I find it interesting that they are holding off the overseed until after the Q-school tournament, but with plans to open for public play on Nov 15. (not much time for a rye grow-in this late in the season...)

Quite coincidental as I'll be staying at the hotel adjacent to the course here in a few days....but never looked into playing the TPC, with time for only one round which will be at Saguaro .
